Arctic Moves
Having revisited Navy Moves recently, there was mention of an upcoming sequel called Arctic Moves. Dinamic dissolved and the game was never released until 1995, where it appeared on the PC. Apparently, the Atari ST version surfaced circa 2001 via Luis Mariano Garcia. I think this would be a great item for the aGTW team to pursue.
From the two Spanish links below, it seems that the Amiga version was 90% done. http://computeremuzone.com/fichas/a/arctic_moves.php http://computeremuzone.com/?id=entre...ec=luismgarcia (I had to use a language translator, so maybe I'm missing some vital information.) |
Well, i have read the wholw thing, and basically, he says that the Amiga version was a little bit done, but atari ST version weas 90% , so a couple of years later the programmer finished it.
I cant get in touch with them (i speak spanish), and try to see if we can trace this game, in Amiga version, what do you think? Cheers! Sebastian |

I can try a go at this, with today's tools, it would be easy to find this guy.

Hey, that'll be great. I wasn't able to get far with this, but it'll probably help if I knew Spanish. When Gavilan last checked, the webmaster of http://computeremuzone.com had lost the author's email info.
|
No problem. Just port the ST version. Presto, another hohum game for Amiga.
|
Actually, i never got a response...strange tough...
But i recall also about Artic Moves "coming to Amiga soon..." :( |
Not a big deal, but here's your PM from 05 May 2006 which read:

Also, Atarimania list the following languages: English, French, German, Italian, Spanish Can one confirm both of the above are true? Finally, no luck with getting the Amiga version so I guess the only way we would be able to play this on the Amiga is for someone to port the Atari ST or DOS version? |

:sad
...better than nothing I guess. I watched a DOS video and even the title screen etc. seemed to be in Spanish. |
Does anyone know what's supposed to happen when pressing the F1 key when in the menu part ?
(I checked on STeem, and... errh... i doubt what happened is a useful option to have...) |
Our friend DamienD has successfully convinced me to strike again !
(Thanks for your incentive my friend :great) This time the victim is Arctic Moves (obviously :D). Not really easy to do, but not so hard when you know how. Just took more time than it should. Current version can be downloaded here. Prerequisites are pretty much like any other of my game ports. |
You da man meynaf :bowdown :bowdown :bowdown
Can't wait to get home and give this a bash!!! |
Just like with meynaf's other Atari ST ports; here is an .ADF version that extracts to "RAM:" and shows the "arctic.readme" file via "PPMore" before starting the game:
https://www.imageupload.co.uk/images...ersion_002.png https://www.imageupload.co.uk/images...ersion_001.png https://www.imageupload.co.uk/images...ersion_003.png File is attached for anyone that wants it ;) **************************************************************************************************** UPDATE Guys, you should use the new disk in post #35 that doesn't need to be extracted to RAM... The one attached to this post requires "2MB Chip & 1MB Fast RAM" and only works on an AGA Amiga. Details of the new disk in post #29. **************************************************************************************************** I'll now also update the Ports / Conversions --> Amiga thread to include this new port :great |
Thanks for yet another port! This game looks fun. Will give it a try tomorrow and report back.
