[released] Blake Stone
This is a project I started last summer, but I only recently found the motivation to work on it again. Blake Stone is basically what Heretic is to Doom. It's a sci-fi James Bond spoof running on an enhanced Wolfenstein 3D engine. It has the same basic gameplay, with some unique elements (friendly NPCs, vending machines, the ability to revisit levels, etc) thrown in. It was completely eclipsed by Doom, but still received a sequel before JAM Productions closed its doors.
The Amiga port is mainly based on NY00123's excellent gamesrc-ver-recreation, with some bits and pieces from refkeen and Boris Bendovsky's bstone port. I couldn't test it on a real machine yet, but an 030 accelerator with at least 4 MB FastRAM should be enough to run it. The game uses AHI for sound. Aliens of Gold will need about 20 MB disk space, because it converts all the AdLib sound effects and music to samples. The mouse input handling still has something left to be desired, I plan to rewrite it soon-ish. Blake Stone Aliens of Gold
The 3 episode shareware version is NOT supported, but if there's enough interest I'll look into building an executable for it. Given the game's age, it's not that hard to find the registered version on the net. Blake Stone Planet Strike
Source code: That's it for now. |
I think it was better than Corridor 7, Spear of Destiny, Depth Dwellers, thanks.
|
I tried running the game with BS AoG 2.10R files, but a message with the wrong files is displayed. Can you send good game files?
|
Remember Blake Stone from the old days, lot of fun, good job on Amiga port!

Tried the Shareware version (after 3.00R fails) but it will not unpack (without DOSBOX ???) RunTime Error 200 @ 0774:0091. |
You didn't loose much, since none of those are supported.
|
I have other file checksums. I can not find files with the same checksums.
|
Thanks you for this new game.
In amikit, the loading is very long. When I use whdload generic, the loading is fast. But no sound and no music in both cases The directory adlib has been created with 119 files *.au /PM sent |

Thanks, if is ahi only, it is normal that there is no sound, ahi not supported by whdload generic.
I use winuae last version beta and amikit 8.5 (last version for windows) I test too with os3.1, the sound seems to work, for amikit too perhaps... but the time of loading is very long to test Sorry for my false test :) |
Ok. I'll grab AmiKit 8.5 to see what's going on with the loading time. Which screen does it spend the most time on? Every disk access is slow?
Regarding the sound issue, for me AHI_BestAudioID keeps picking the filesave.audio instead of uae.audio in AmiKit. I'll take it out and just rely on the user selected Music device in the AHI prefs. |
Good work! Tried this on my A1200+030/50 and runs pretty well! Had to test 3 different downloads to find one that runs ok - finding any specific version is a no-go as there's no mention to versions at all sites I checked.
Anyway, 1 bug I found was in the story pages. Many have a large part of the text warped up in a single line or misplaced, so it's impossible to read. |
You can always download whatever version is on a website, check the version is DOSBox and patch if needed. I'll try to fix the problem on the story page.

@bszili: the Link https://www.gog.com/game/blake_stone_aliens_of_gold
leads me to the sequel "Planet Strike", but never to AOG! :confused |
I checked again, and for me it opens the correct page.
|
Very cool, downloaded and will try tonight !! Hope all 3 episodes will get supported @BSzili !! Respect :)
|
It's a port for the registered version which has 6 episodes. On the weekend I'll make a new version with the issues reported above fixed, plus I'll add a screen mode requester, so it can be played on RTG screens.
