Mods Jukebox is launched !!

1 Attachment(s)
Hi everybody :)

After many and many hours of hard work on it (about 9 hours just for today), the a b î me .net Mods Jukebox is finally a reality !!!

The Jukebox have tons of cool features, with a powerfull playlist manager (cumulative filters), and all the fonctions are available in one or two mouse click.

Of course, the player is based on the modplug plugin, so it will only produce sound under windows(tm) operating system.

For the launch, I have already feed the database with 95 of my best oldschool mods, so it's arround 6 h 37 min for playing time :)

Feel free to post any comments, ideas, bugs, greatings.
and don't forget to submit your favourite mods !

Only one url : http://mods.abime.net/

ENJOY !! :p

Dunno where to post fixes RCK.

[Fixed] - Electrification is by Groo/The Black Robes (as he was then)
[Fixed] - Enigma module is called Musiklinjen and was 99% composed by Firefox.
[Fixed] - Animotion was composed by Mantronix
[Fixed] - Full Moon 3 module is called Nearly There
[Fixed] - Digital Innovation is called Kings of Dawn
[Fixed] - Daisy Chain 2 is composed by Rhesus Minus
[Fixed] - Martin Iveson is Nuke

Good choice of mods though. Excellent page.

RCK 11 June 2001 12:03

Thanks for all your fixes Khephren :)
Don't hesitate to send me one package of your favourite mods ;)
(upload indication in the player)

I have also added one quick link for the Jukebox in the upper right of the board.

Khephren 11 June 2001 18:02

I'm swapping my web site server in the next week from Canada to the UK, so hopefully my site will be a lot faster.

I'll be uploading my personal favourite modules and some other Amiga software to this server.

I dunno if you could link directly to my server for the tunes instead of taking ages to upload them manually.

Osmodia 11 June 2001 18:28

Looks excellent, great design! :)

But it maybe better to rename the files to .mdz. Else some browsers will associate all zips with the mod plugin.

Isn't it possible to check the remaining length of a tune directly from the plugin so that the new tune will start exactly when the current ends?
Do you use the connection speed only to calculate how long the download takes?

RCK 11 June 2001 19:57

to Khephren:
Yes, it will be possible to link directly the mods file from your server, but your serveur must be very fast for download (else the the calculate time will be wrong, and the jukebox will jump to the next mod before the current have time to finish)

to Osmodia:

I know this issue, but it not appends on IE neither on Netscape.(and these two browsers are the only supported by the modplug plugin). It is also more friendly for the people who download the mods to have zip file than mdz ;)

no, I know all the fonction of this plugin and it is not possible.
moreover:
- the meta tags should be written before the plugin is called.
- the remaining time displayed by the plugin is not always good.
- for short chip tunes (< 60 sec), I let the mods play two times in the player, so it is a custom time :)

- you're right :)

[Fixed] - Firefox is Jimmy Fredriksson

[Fixed] - Mantronix is Martin Wall

Amiga1992 12 June 2001 00:53

This is bloody BRILLIANT. I love it. Great job, RCK.

BWT 14 June 2001 20:44

Er...what format do your mods come in?

I'd like to port a few over to Octamed, but before I start downloading etc... I thought I'd ask.

Been a while since I got some new mods: not happy with the choices on aminet I've tried recently.

Khephren 14 June 2001 21:18

Most of them are bog standard Noise/Pro Tracker formats which OctaMed can screw up, I mean import easily :)

RCK 15 June 2001 22:43

Mods-Jukebox updated !

Thanks to new server (whitch is better every days), I have also boosted the Mods-Jukebox performance:

- You can upload directly your mods files up to 1Mb ! (no more 70ko)
- When you click on a mod to play it through the playlist manager, it will be played infinitely !

(loop=true, no auto change)
with this new fonction, you will able to listen to Manscape (108) during a few hours like I'm doing :D

@BWT:
all the mods are in standard format (Noise/Pro Tracker or Xm)

RCK 11 August 2001 15:31

I have just updated the [ a b î m e .net ] Mods-Jukebox engine :)

There is now two new information lists about our requested mods and the last uploaded mods !
Moreover, you can now directly listening to the last uploaded mods without going into the Playlist Editor.

RCK 17 March 2002 01:37

Mods Jukebox upgraded :)

You can check out the new screenshot in the first post of this thread.
I will also re-post all the mods update from the beginning, with dedicated link for listening to each playing list.

mihcael 26 July 2006 21:56

Was this part of the site still functional before server migration? (no posts for some years now)

Will it be coming back online??

RCK 27 July 2006 12:36

You sure? I got the plugin working but can't play anything. If I try to manually download the MOD I get permissions issue with the file.

Any chance of fixing? :)

RCK 19 November 2006 21:07

Plugin OK with firefox, Mods access permissions fixed !
Thanks for report :)
