Amiga software packs/bundles
I'm trying to compile a list of software packs (for a wikipedia article) that Commodore created to help sell their low-end Amigas (A500, A500+,A600,A1200). If you know of more, I would be very greatful for your input. :)
Also, If can you remember, can you also list the software in that pack. The ones I've listed are ones I know that were available in the UK, I don't know if C= sold Amigas like this in Europe, if so I would love to see some pictures of the boxes. Btw, spammed this to Lemon Amiga as well :D So far the ones I know of are: (dates need to be verified too, correct me if I'm wrong.) A500 ----------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Batman (1989) Screen Gems (19??) Flight of Fantasy (1990) Class of The 90's (1990) Cartoon Classics (1991) (A500 and A500+) A600 ----------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Lemmings The Wild, The weird and The Wicked ?? Epic A1200 ----------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Comic Relief Race 'n' Chase Desktop Dynamite Frontier Pack Dangerous Streets / Wordworth ?? |
My A500 came with those titles (around 1991 in Germany):
* Transcript * Appetizer both are from Gold Disk software. I can't remember the name of the package (if it had one). |

I don't really remember, but I think it was the standard A500 box. Appetizer are 4 applications aimed at beginners.
|
Cartoon Classics came with Captain Planet, Lemmings (1 disk version without the animated intro) and The Simpsons: Bart Vs the Space Mutants.
|
The Wild, The weird and The Wicked (or is that The Weird, the Wild, and the Wicked?) came with:
Formula One Grand Prix (Microprose) Pushover (Ocean) Putty (System 3) Deluxe Paint 3 (EA) Workbench 2.05 A1200 Desktop Dynamite came with: WordWorth (3 or 5, can't remember) AGA Deluxe Paint 4 AGA Oscar Dennis |
My A500 that I got in Oz
came with Workbench 1.3 Extras 1.3 Kindwords 2.0 (the other Kindwords disks) Fusion Paint x.x (ah yes the #1 amiga iff program ;) ) Crazy Cars Super Ski <-- ?? not to sure about that one. I think it came in a purple box, and on the back of the box were pics of other games, and I think that one of the games in the pictures was the .nz story. |
The very first Silica System Amiga A500`s came with a bunch of demo`s ( of which I`m still desperately seeking ) :) 10 disks I think.. no games.

When I bought my first A500 in 1990 we got the A500 starter pack. It came with F/A-18 Interceptor; Indiana Jones and the Last crusade (action); Kick Off; Kindwords 2 and Fusion Paint. There was also an A500 deluxe pack that cost more and came with different software (I think Dpaint 2 was one of the titles) - I have not got the info with me atm but will check later. There was also a John Laws A500 pack sold, but I don't know if there was software bundled with it, or whether it was just a promotion. [John Laws is a (still today) well known radio personality in Australia] A1200 desktop dynamite was also sold in Oz. |
Yeah I think it was something like Workbench / Extras 1.3.2
Damn how could I forget Minigolf, that game was wicked, especially the holes in ones. Got some of the other courses on 2nd hand disks I brought. |
The A600 "Lemmings" pack came with:
1. Lemmings 2. Deluxe Paint III. 3. Workbench / Fonts / Extras v2.05 The Amiga Technologies A1200 "Magic" Pack came with: 1. Whizz 2. Pinball Mania 3. Personal Paint 6.4 4. Digita Wordworth v4SE 5. Digita Print Manager v1.2SE 6. Digita Datastore v1.1 7. Digita Organiser v1.1 8. TurboCalc v3.5 9. Photogenics v1.2SE 10. Workbench / Fonts / Extras / Storage / HD Setup v3.1 11. The 170mb HD version came with Scala (v3?) pre-installed. |
Since http://www.bambi-amiga.co.uk/amigahistory/bundles.html is down right now I'll ask my question in this slightly dusty thread ;)
I'm trying to figure which Amiga bundle/pack the second Puzznic disk comes from. Hopefully somebody knows. |
Gameswise the UK A500/A600 bundles were all pretty good except for Screen Gems and the Epic pack, but most of the A1200 ones had more bad than good - though the Dangerous Streets pack was okay aside from the title game. We usually only got one version of Deluxe Paint on the serious side though - the ST and STe generally led for that.
Still, the A1200 lived for less than 2 years before Commodore folded, very few pure AGA-only games existed at that time, and the Batman pack was roughly 2 years after the A500 launched, so who knows what we'd've had? The Critical Zone CD32 bundle was pretty good though. That Amiga Magic pack was excellent for serious software, though I think Scala needed more than the standard 2Mb RAM, and was the box clear enough on this? Was throwing so much serious software in a bit of a concession that the Amiga had fatally fallen behind gameswise? |
I got the (Arcade Action) Silica Amiga Pack for my Nephew
Circa 1991 (£300) containing: Photon Paint 2, GFA Basic Interpreter v3.5 and Asterix, Chess Player, Drivin' Force, Live and Let Die, Onslaught, Pipe Mania, Rick Dangerous, Rock 'n' Roll, Skweek and Trivial Pursuit https://oldhol.abime.net/5083 |
Amiga School, 1991:
