What's the yellow plug on the back of the A1200 for?

I don't think i've ever seen it in use for something, so now i'm very curious :shocked

alexh 12 September 2007 23:43

It's a special distortion filtered output which blurs all video and shifts colours with halo's.

On a more serious note it is : Composite video out

Zyprexa 13 September 2007 00:08

!? :shocked So i can just plug in a composite cabel and stick it in my tv?

And will it be better than using the RF?

Zetr0 13 September 2007 01:35

@Alexh

PMSL!!!!!! :lol

@Zyprexa

indeed, composite is better than RF, but you can get a cable that plugs into the video port (23pin RGB ) and inturn this can goto a scart input on a TV / Monitor for a much better picture!

I think i've ordered what you are describing here. Only problem is that the two scart inputs on my tv is populated already, so until i get a solution to that i'm going to try the composite.

But just to be a little OT, what resolutions can i run on the scart cable?

EDIT: Turns out the only yellow "input" on my tv is called "Coaxial Out", whatever that is good for. But i have a S-Video input, and if i'm not mistaken there are Composite->S-Video adapters.

Rebel-CD32 13 September 2007 05:47

There might be Composite-S-video converters out there, but they won't show a very sharp picture, but if that's your only option for now I guess it's okay. Some of the guys here are working on AmigaRGB-S-video converters, so soon you may be able to get one of these for the sharpest picture quality.

Another option might be to get an AV switcher with SCART inputs and outputs, or a Scart-S-video converter, although I'm not sure if you'll have much luck with these as I haven't, but I don't think my Scart TV is RGB Scart.

Unless your TV only supports composite on SCART and not RGB in which case you've just bought an expensive belt =P

That is probably composite out.. to a video recorder or something.

Jope 13 September 2007 15:52

Is it orange or yellow? Orange could be digital audio out..

A Nintendo GameCube and a satellite tuner.

The gamecube is connected with a Composite->Scart adapter.

It's yellow, of that i'm 97% sure :)

alexh 13 September 2007 17:04

Does your Satellite tuner not have SCART passthrough?

Hmm. It has another scart marked "VCR", but i thought that was another output.But then again, thinking isn't knowing :)

But i found this
That might do the trick.

twizzle 13 September 2007 20:10

that is exactly what i was going to suggest you buy :)

Nope that is a bidirectional pass through, you can happily plug the Gamecube into this and as long as the satellite tuner is in standby it will come through on that AV channel.

There, I've saved you some dosh!

Zyprexa 14 September 2007 02:01

Yoohoo! :laughing Seriously, thanks. That saved me about 200 NOK's :D
