Playstation Emulator Problems
Well I've had it. I download and burn my fave PSX game ever, Tactics Ogre, aqnd play it on Connetix Virtual Game Station v 1.41 , cracked and all, and though I can save games, I cannot load them. Anyone else with this problem?

I tried VGS once, it ran the game I wanted to try with plenty of graphics glitches.
Then I tried ePSXe, after a bit of tweaking the game ran somewhat (cutscenes were lagging a bit), but it ran fine with better graphics resolution than VGS could offer up. Never touched VGS since that. |
ePSXE is my recommended PS emulator too. Runs pretty much everything you can throw at it.

Dont lameulate, use the real thing :D
|
A dummy asked me for a PS emulator, and I've installed on his PC AdriPSX, one of the smallest. It's good.

Emulation is efficeient an neat. I don't like a mess.
|
Its efficiency is tremendously questionable. Otherwise you wouldn't be having problems with it :D
|
@akira. Of course it would be nice to have all the systems, but for many emulation is the answer. Think about space. I know some of you probably have a mansion dedicated to having all systems you can get your hands on up and running. I'm squeezed into a small room with my computers, bed and a shelf of games/DVDs/books. That only leaves room for my PC, and my 2 Amigas set up at the same time.
|
But, as far as I remember, Fred had a PSX.
And I know its more convenient and tidy, but NOT efficient :) |
Most likely not efficient. Though if you want a bit spruced up graphics the emulators can do that for you. If you want the classic performance nothing beats the real thing.

Well after seeing this thread and in the past never having any luck with psx emu's actually running games i thought i'd give it a go again. I must say i'm suprised .. flabbergasted even .. ePSX runs games fantastically! I ran upstairs to where the missus was just hacking some zombies apart or summat on Evil Dead (on real PSX) and raided some of the CD's ... the result is that i can now play some PSX games without having to fight with her (and the kids when they are awake) for the real machine :}
It runs fast and fine with hardly any problems. This snapshot is ePSX running in window mode (800x600) on a 1600x1024x32 (85hz) desktop .. As you can see i can still see IRC and other shit in the background. The game had full GFX and Sound :) |
LOL!
But Akira, native hardware has problems all the time as well. |
My problem arises from the shittiness of Interact and its products. My joypad cannot be configured on EPSXE

Well, only PSX lameulator I tried was Bleem, and it ran decently my copy of Einhänder. It looks nice on 640x480, but it was full of bugs.
I know issues exist with real hardware, but nothing beats it anyway :) Even in its ugly 320x240 3D nonsense fashion :D |
Akira - you should try EPSXE. It takes a little effort to set up, but it's well worth it.
|
One more thing which puts ePSXe apart from bleem (Apart from Bleem being crap) is that Bleem was commercial where ePSXe is free.
|
Ahhh you bastards, you made me download a lameulator! :D
I'll try it out and report later. I have Einhänder, R-Type Delta and another shooter (crap one, Shooter: Space Shot, methinks) to shove at it. It better play Delta effortlessly. |
Yech!
Downloaded ePSXe, the Pete video plugin and had a go at my 3 PSX games for the time being. Choppy sound on Delta, making the gameplay stop a bit almost every second. Not to mention I cant see a damned menu text. Shooter: space shot goes too fast, and the videos' texts are corrupted And Einhänder runs OK, like in bleem. But with audio choppiness again. In a word: 'orrible Where are you PSX? Come here baby, we have some games to play, this PC cant do anything properly :D Another score for the Real Thing©! |
