Virtual Memory or Memory Compactor

Hi Amiga-addicts,

There is some kind of software that doubles/compact memory or that does
some kind of virtual memory for Amigas without a MMU? One at least that works on any program, like a memory promoter patch?

Thanks. :)

Very good point - a bit like Page Filing on Windows?

Exactly. Albeit I am not sure if it is possible to check for these memory accesses without a MMU.

But would be great if some library for creating and filling "temporary files" on disk was built in the Kickstart because the Amiga programs could use extensively it for scratch memory... Crunching memory in real-time would be neat too. I've heard one day that the Amiga version of Mortal Kombat used a system like this for crunching the image data on computers with little ram.

As well, would be nice if Commodore built in the Kickstart the support for bitmaps and blitting thru fast-ram like its done in Windows 3.11... FBlit is a excellent patch but it is non-standard and can only be configured with MUI, decision that I cannot understand :(. In fact there are many things done since in the Windows 3.11 days that cant be done today in Workbench 3.1 (and even in OS 3.9 or 4.0 or AROS).
