Converting Minimegi NTSC chip to PAL

Ok, here's the thing, i have a minimegi chip on my PAL 500 rev 6a.
Is there a way to change the agnus chip to boot by default to PAL? Like in the 1200 ntsc board that all it needs is to lift a pin for it to boot to PAL as default.
I'm thinking in isolating the agnus pin that's responsable for the NTSC boot.
If, yes, what pin should i isolate?:confused

AFAIK mate you need the appropriate change of Agnus PAL chip for it work (meaning the same series).
If it's soldered, then you need some hot air station to remove it and solder the PAL on in place.

:cryingReally?
Well, i have indivision ecs installed but i still get the image to be streched.
I read somewhere that the ntsc problem wouldn't matter with indivision installed but looks like it does.

I dont know about that, because with Kickstart 2.0 and above you have the option to toggle between NTSC and PAL by entering the early start up menu (hold down left and right mouse button during reset)

I think there is a hack. Search on Amibay for posts by a user called Nathaniel.

Correct. If you have an 8375 318069-11 then you need an 8375 318069-10. If you have an 8375 390544-02 then you need 8375 390544-01 etc.

Configurable NTSC/PAL pin doesn't exist on 2Mbyte 8375 Agnii. It was a package bond-out option not a pin.

i can change if you want

If you have an 8375 318069-11 then you need an 8375 318069-10 (SAVED)

Do you have a spare pal one?
If so i'll be more than interested in getting it and hiring your services;)

i can remove from a600 pal, but i remember i have used an a500 with fatagnus ntsc and a indivision without problem, test the a500 with monitor or tv via scart

I tested it both ways and get the same result.
I'll try it with a diferent monitor to see the result.

There's an article about this mod on the 'COSMOS' blog.

I'm not 100% sure you can use an 8375 390544-02 part on a board which had an 8375 318069-11 part and vice versa

mfilos 24 January 2012 15:03

Aye AFAIK you need the same series to be able to make the transition correctly.

I recommend replacing it with a 8375 318069-10 part to ensure it will work.

You can't mix them.
Pinout is different on these two revisions.
Part must have the same code.
So 8375 390544 NTSC must be replaced by 8375 390544 PAL.
And 8375 318069 NTSC must be replaced by 8375 318069 PAL.
I did that as well:
http://www.amibay.com/showthread.php?t=24137

In my case I've changed 8375 390544-02 to 8375 390544-01.

paulo_becas 25 January 2012 09:27

The million dollar question is, where can i get my hands on a pal super agnus compatible with the one i have?
