I build custom joysticks for the Amiga and other retro systems using aluminium enclosures and quality arcade parts.
The joystick layout is customisable to suit the user. You can also customise a wide range of parts on the joysticks including colour, autofire, button mapping, spring weight, gate types and actuator size.

How much do they cost?

Says on the page, "Prices start at £100 + postage"

Cost is very much dependant on how people decide to spec them. For a standard 2 button joystick it is £100 plus postage. Most people elect to add things like autofire and button mapping, which brings the cost up to around £120. I provide a quote for each stick once the spec is agreed with the customer.


Yes unfortunately there will be customs charges for some. This is outside of my control, but I always try to look up duties when I quote postage rates to give people the best idea of total cost that I can.

If I might have a bit of opinion,
it would be nice with a design that had a slanted front that would hopefully be more ergonomic. That would probably be a larger and more expensive design, but one that would interest me.

In particular something very close to "The Arcade Professional" would be cool.

Why does it say you need a 3rd party interface to use it on a CD32?

If it runs on the A500, A600, then surely it will run in two button mode on the CD32 ?!?

something worth talking about perhaps just in terms of there being seemingly comparable difference is that some of the more established joysticks of the day joysticks like zipstick and competition pro were effortless in hitting all directions. It was just something I never even thought about but having bought a couple of joysticks recently with sanwa parts, I've discovered that I simply can't always do that with sanwa especially 100% with diagonals. Even the modern day competition pro remake a while back manages all directions effortlessly as well but I do struggle with sanwa

I case of getting used to of course but are all arcade part based joysticks like this in that it's easy to miss the direction more?

I prefer the feel and lesser noise of the sanwa joysticks I have to the frankly noisy competition remakes but I just took it for granted that a sanwa would operate the same and it clearly doesn't from my experience with it

I've also put in an 8 way with no difference so I'm guessing this is just how they are?

Looks like what me and my mate used to make in metal work at school with parts we pilfered from arcade machines back in the 80's. GG.

£100 plus postage just too steep for me. Although I appreciate made by yourself and the time and work that goes into making them.

I do need a new joystick as my old Comp Pro falling to bits playing KO2. Got a 2nd hand one off eBay for £20 and it works but shaft far too stiff (not bad for emergency spare)

So I plumped for that ArcadeR one...waiting delivery.... hopefully ok

I do have an option of a larger sloped enclosure. It is a bit of a beast, but lends itself well to a 'fight stick' style joystick. I plan to build a CD32 stick into one of those enclosures very soon as a test.

Yes indeed the two-button stick does work on the CD32, the 3rd party interface is something that I am using to build full seven-button CD32 sticks. I am currently finishing off my first prototype of that.


It's not something I have personally noticed. All of the arcade sticks I have looked at use four microswitches that are individually pressed by an actuator on the joystick shaft. I have upgraded the actuator on a couple of Sanwa sticks that reduces the engagement travel distance, so you may find that helps?


I appreciate the cost is fairly high, but the cost of the parts is a significant portion of this and they are all custom built by hand, so it simply wouldn't be viable for me to build them for any less.

I used one of these a couple of times at our last Norwich Amiga Group meet, found the joystick a joy to use! You can feel the quality. It is pricey, possibly too much for me, but I can't argue that it does feel worth the cost

I'll probably order one of those when available again (I need at least 2 controllers to play with the kids !). In the meantime I got a "Monster Joystick". I noticed the Sanwa joystick was especially noise (microswitches clicks) compared to my only former experience in arcade (Happ joystick as in the X-Arcade).

Is that due to the Sanwa joysticks / microswitches in general or to the casing of the joystick ?
In which case : I wonder if the Immortal joystick will be less noisy.

(I like when it clicks but not when the clicks hurt my ears ;-)
