Amiga vs. PC games comparison vid, whee :p

Here's the video I made where I show the Amiga and PC versions of a few games. Not very many, couldn't fit a lot into a 10 minute video since I wanted to to give a good impression of each version.

Amiga vs. PC video

Shoonay 08 January 2008 13:56

Cool, I hope it's "Amiga oriented" :cheese

viddi 08 January 2008 14:38

It is. ;)

:great

Good video, I might actually prefer the PC version of Stunt Car Racer if the colors weren't so retarted, it's much smoother.

Bloodwych 08 January 2008 15:11

Wow, you stuck this together already?

Nice work! I like it. Bet someone starts to take the comparisons out of context though and bashes the Amiga!

You tried the WHDLoad version, with a few extra parameters? ;)

The turbo mode code removes two delays and speeds up the game on most systems. If you use the turbo mode in conjunction with the CACHE tooltype, you will be in for a very fast race! If you also add the NTSC tooltype on PAL machines, you will get an even faster game!

also sounds from YM-3812 rule :p

laffer 08 January 2008 15:20

I made sure to include some decent ports so people can't complain I'm *too* biased.. :laughing

Gods and Lotus 3 are decent ports anyway :xmas

Yeah, it just speeds up the whole game so it will be unplayable. The PC version keeps the gameplay intact and just has higher FPS.

It's exactly what laffer's video shows, this version looks indeed smoother. Will try it with DOSBox.

laffer 08 January 2008 16:06

It is a lot smoother, I actually thought it was pretty good.

You tried Last Ninja DOS? :lol

laffer 08 January 2008 16:29

I have :banghead

Fred the Fop 08 January 2008 16:46

Laffer, your video is lame.
Why don't you show how Amiga games compare to non FUCKING CGA and EGA versions of PC games.
If you wanted to be fair, try some VGA comparisions. I'd think Retro Nerd's Amiga/Atari ST video is much better.

By the way I think Amiga gaming is the best ever. I am pointing out a wicked flaw in your video.

Duke 08 January 2008 16:47

Early games didn't have VGA versions, so its a valid comparison. And for the record, there are some VGA games in the video.

Retro-Nerd 08 January 2008 16:49

Fred, you sucks in this case. :laughing ;)

It was heavily weighted to CGA-EGA.
If it was valid, it would have been named "Early Amiga games vs Early pre-VGA PC Games"

Quote Laffer " dont take this too seriously "

Fred did you read that?
