Cinemaware needs your help!!

The guys at Cinemaware are looking for original versions of many of their classic Amiga games. If you have any of these games they will appreciate it a lot if you send them adf files of the disks.
You can read more about it at Cinemaware's forum http://www.cinemaware.com/forum/topic.asp?TOPIC_ID=1923

Don't they know about IPF archives ? :blased

DamienD 20 October 2007 13:51

Exactly RCK ;)

There was some discussion about this a while ago in the Cinemawares Sinbad Image is a CRACK thread:

They probably afraid of too much "What the hell is a IPF? How to use them?" e-mails.

Kristian95 20 October 2007 13:57

come on guys, it doesn't take that long to make an adf image of your originals and e-mail it to them. I thought the Amiga community would be happy to help. Heck, I have supplied them with original versions of Wings, ICFTD and Rocket Ranger... oh and in case you want to sell your original game they want to buy them too hehehehe... for that I told them to go ebay ;)

For some games, like "Lords of the Rising Sun", you can't do a proper ADF. This game has a tricky copy protection. So yes, they should use the IPF's instead.

Charlie 20 October 2007 14:03

Tell me again, what's an IPF..?
;)

DamienD 20 October 2007 14:06

A scan of the manual is also needed for Wings so you can get past the protection.

Kristian95 20 October 2007 15:12

true true, but if you look at the link, the games they look for at the moment are: ICFTD2, DOTC, TV sports baseball (European release) and King of Chicago... none of those had manual code protection IIRC...

YoJoe! 20 October 2007 15:26

Why don't they just recompile the games from their source code?

If they are really cinemaware then they own the source code and can recompile it without copy protection and without crack screens.

kriz 20 October 2007 15:45

Do you think they still got the source ? I dont think so...

YoJoe! 20 October 2007 16:30

It would be very stupid to destroy valuable source codes to expensive games.

kriz 20 October 2007 17:07

YoYou would be surpised to see how often this happens..

Kristian95 20 October 2007 17:22

besides, we have to remember that the current Cinemaware is a reconstruction of the classic company Cinemaware. Ie. they have bought the copyrights etc and some of the crew of the new Cinemaware were part of the classic company too, that I think is the main reason that they have no old archives and what have you not ;)
Anyway, Cinemaware fans out there, help these guys out :)

EmuChicken 20 October 2007 17:40

damn, ... anyone, please give em the it came from the desert 2 antheads jobby....

prolly looking at a sequel kinda thing on the gba or whatever X)

Kristian95 20 October 2007 18:33

if I had it I would have sent it to them already :)

jotd 20 October 2007 20:09

I had a chat with Matthew Kile who has an agreement with Cinemaware (and with me BTW) to create an embedded version of WinUAE/WHDLoad to create ready to run Amiga games (you just see a .exe file, every other stuff is hidden to the end user).

He has problems with some Cinemaware titles and confirmed that they don't have the source code of the games anymore.

BTW all ADFs downloadable from Cinemaware website are cracks except the unprotected ones such as ICFD.

turrican3 20 October 2007 22:18

that's too bad that there is no uae for xbox360, imagine wings on the xboxlive and more wings 2 they could win money and make new games for the amiga.
Nobody want to make an uae port for 360 ???
If it could be real ;)
THEY should think about the possibility !

Did they ever replace the faulty ICFTD Disk 3 on their website? ;)

I had forgotten that one!! I even wrote a special workaround in my WHDLoad install to copy as much as possible of the file, then append the remaining bit, so the install works with Cinemaware images.

btw most Cinemaware games are available on my webspace:
