You didn't like it? I haven't seen this book before - the "sample chapter" link doesn't work :(

Mmh, the Java popups works here, but it's hard to read.

Nope, I didn't. Friend of mine bought it (and didn't like it either). Contained a lot of mistakes (some of them were really silly like Amiga disks have a capacity of 720k, WTF?) and false information. The picture quality was great but that's the only positive thing I can say about the book. That someone wrote about the Amiga scene who never really was part of it didn't help either.

I'm also not a fan of such kind of books anyway, who needs a book that explains the scene? I never really understood that but that might just be me. :)

I enjoyed Freax - it took me back... I think it was released in about 2006, so I guess this is the second edition announcement?

Sure there was some stuff in there that might have been opinionated, but it's always fun to see a different side and the enthusiasm came right out through the book. Didn't see many downright wrong things!

I enjoyed it too. Took me back to the days when many of my friends had an Amiga and we were enjoying it together.

Finally we can buy this again, wanted the first one but it sold out!

You can buy the original version on there iirc.

I got mine (2006 edition) from amazon.de. Lots for sale on there.

The book is "pretty", but it is not a great read, or at least wasn't for me. Should at least have got someone to check the grammar, and it does have a fair amount of factual errors, which I think stems from the books "knowledge" primarily coming from various websites which have mistakes (including mine) :)

Works quite well as a loo book though. I recommend the Commodore book for a great bedtime read though. That is excellent.

Galahad/FLT 28 August 2008 00:01

Commodore book?

BuZz 28 August 2008 01:25

Yeah, that's a good read - 2nd edition out in October too ;)

We placed our order. Who will be writing the next Amiga book that covers Amiga Inc?

:D
