Pinball Fantasies Now On PSP

Release date October 1st, 2009 at 12.00 a.m.

Cowboy Rodeo puts the classic pinball back to PSP “minis”!

Tampere, Finland, October 1st, 2009. Cowboy Rodeo has published Pinball Fantasies as a downloadable game for the PSP “minis”.

The game is a port based on the Pinball Dreams, Fantasies and Illusions trilogy first published for Commodore Amiga in the 1990s, a series that set off a company which became one of the largest in Europe, now owned by Electronic Arts; Digital Illusions CE - DICE.
Literally over a million copies of Pinball Dreams, Pinball Fantasies and Pinball Illusions were sold for most major gaming platforms making the series a true best-seller of its time.

Pinball Fantasies features the 4 original tables from the Amiga release with remastered graphics and yet again comes with 100% of the original addictive game play.

This time around Cowboy Rodeo got unexpected high level support for the project as Markus Nyström, the man behind all of the graphics and tables in the original trilogy revisited the game’s logo and did all of the menu graphics for the port!
On top of this Olof Gustafsson, the man behind the music and the effects, has kindly contributed with new studio quality remixes and tunes for a VIP section on the game’s WWW-pages, available for everyone buying the game.

”The Pinball Dreams trilogy was the absolute cream of the crop when it comes to pinball simulators, and we believe that a good game will always be a good game and the experience lives throughout generations. By porting and publishing Pinball Fantasies we are proving that their basic idea and game play still works, and thus we bring this fantastic piece of old school game craftsmanship to the players of 2009 – ranging from fans of the original versions back in the day to youngsters who never got to enjoy the world when Commodore Amiga and other 16-bit legends dominated”, tells Juuso Salmijärvi, Cowboy Rodeo’s CEO.

Andreas Axelsson, co-creator and coder of the original series summarizes their view about the comeback of their game:
“Being able to reach out to a whole new generation of gamers with such an old game is something usually reserved for the true classics. We're immensely proud to be considered worthy.”
“When Pinball Dreams was born as a crazy idea in a summer cottage 20 years ago it was beyond our wildest dreams that it would get the kind of attention and appreciation it has. I'm truly proud that people still enjoy the games.”

“The physics algorithms alone were astoundingly developed for the time and the developers spent six months on them before even starting the rest of the game development. After that, each table took 6 to 8 months of hard manual labour and love. Because of all this, you can still see and appreciate how everything has been crafted with extreme care and on top of all - talent”, tells Juuso Salmijärvi.

Cowboy Rodeo is an independent Finland-based game developer working on Apple iPhone™ and Sony PSP™ platforms.

Awesome news! I bought all three on Amiga way back when. Bought again on iPhone except for Pinball Illusions since it is not out yet. And I will buy the PSP version as well.

It's not available in the US yet. The webpage explains that they're waiting for ESRB rating. :crying Hopefully soon.

Awesome news! I will definitely get this. :great

Btw., you can easily create fake accounts for any PS Store.

I have PS-Store accounts for Japan, USA, UK and Hong Kong (since in the German PS-Store there are almost no free demos for PS3 available.)

I hope they'll also release Dreams and Illusions (incl. the Vikings-table) for PSP.

edit: about Dreams:

Bought this last week and it is excellent. Suits the PSP very well, a faithful and accurate reproduction of the Amiga classic.
