Using PC CD drive with a real Amiga

Is it possible to allow my Amiga to use my PC's CD player? I don't mean to transfer files, but to actually use the CD in real time - as if it was an CD drive attached to my Amiga. I have the Amiga Power CD given away with the magazine and I can't use it with WINUAE so I was wondering if I could use my real Amiga. Any help would be much appreciated.

CD-ROM Drive

Yes, it's possible.

I use a standard x24 IDE CD-ROM drive on my Amiga 1200. The A1200 is in a Power Tower case and the motherboard has a Power Flyer. These are both from Power Computing. The Power Flyer adds a new, faster IDE controller to the Amiga and allows you to connect a number of IDE devices. So, I have attached a couple of hard drives, the CD-ROM drive and a CD-writer.

An older method is to use a SCSI CD-ROM drive attached to the port at the left of the A1200. I used to use a Squirrel interface with a CD-ROM attached to it.

I'm assuming you are using something like an A1200, as I wouldn't even start with an A500.
