Wrote a pop-up/task-bar notification thingy.. opinions?
I wrote a program to kind-of "centralize" notifications via AREXX on AmigaOS 3.x (Possibly 2.x, but I've been too lazy to set up E-UAE to test this...) Anyway, noticed there's about 70 downloads on Aminet ( http://aminet.net/package/util/wb/amistatus ), and was wondering how well its been working? I've noticed that the image changing is kind of hit and miss. Works great on my 1200T with 060/rtg/more memory than any Amiga would consider sane... But under my more modest 1200 030 w/ 8mb ram, it seems less stable. Also, if it doesn't detect "s:amistatus.images" (I think, I'm at the library with my netbook right now), the default alternative uses AMISTATUS_BETA as a program name, which it should be AMISTATUS (without the _BETA). I had a previously bug-ridden version that I had a few scripts for, and I had to change it because I forgot where some of the arexx stuff was coming from...
Anyway, any ideas/suggestions/complaints about exploding computers? (Will take awhile to respond, forgot about my AT&T bill, hence the netbook @ the library. At least until I get them paid off, or until airomon-ng /aircrack grabs enough router data from my neighbor.. er.. oops...) |
I really like the idea of a clean notifications system controlled through Arexx for the Amiga. I don't know how I missed this or how this post has no replies. I will definitely be trying this out this week and reporting back. Hope your still interested in developing it further.

Nice tool! Going to try it later.

I didn't even know this existed! I've been using ranchero to do the same thing:
