Welcome to the English Amiga Board Leaderboard World Class Leader Board round. Plus Gods. ;)

Once again, thanks for all the votes. They are very much needed to get the best game choices. And we have a couple more classics from different genres. Should offer a good choice for what you want to focus on.

Starting with another mythical themed platformer, Gods. A Bitmap Brothers game no less. That explains the great artwork. This should be a good one for exploring the levels. Next up is World Class Leader Board, taking us way back to 1988 and it's already a sequel. Despite its age this remains a well respected golf game that is great for first time players.

Into the wonderful we go...


Gods
* Get the highest score you can in one completion.
* Gods loops after you complete it, so if you get that far, take a screenshot of your score at the start of the second loop.

World Class Leader Board
* We are playing two courses. Westchester CC and Muirfield Village. They can be found on the first extra courses data disk and the second disk of courses on the WHDLoad version.
* I think you can play the holes in any order, so if you want to perfect your score by playing the harder holes first then go ahead.
* Add your scores together.
* If you only play one course add 200 points to your score for the unplayed course.
* Lowest score wins.
* Play in PRO mode.


Round Ends: 23:59 (UK Time) on Friday 31st July 2020


Score Badges:

• Post a screenshot of your score and write it nearby.
• All scores must be achieved during this round without the use of save states, trainers, passwords or any other cheats.
• No continues. No infinite score leeching.

Beat the Game Badge:

• Finish Gods during this round and post a screenshot of the ending as proof.
• So long as you are not submitting a score, you can use continues, passwords, and in-game saves. Play the game as originally intended.

World Class Leader Board

I've played a lot of gods through the years and always been so terrible at it. I never manage to make consistent progress and never even finished the first world. I'm curious to see if that's just me.

It's a good chance to finally learn all this secret stuff in Gods and get some good distance in it.

Anyone else having trouble loading and saving games in the WHDload version of WCleaderboard?

Also if you can the WHDload version is better as the background graphics (trees etc.) on the .adf seem to be corrupt.

There are no secrets in Gods anymore. I know ALL the secrets. Kroah level viewer killed the suspense :)
Interesting challenge. I remember someone tried to get the maximum score for level 1 already. and knowing all the secrets doesn't mean I'll be able to pull them all in a single game. Also monsters don't respawn so there's no trick to get an infinite score.

First try at Gods and the key for the second level didn't spawn in the vase room. I did deliver the vase and spend much time pulling every lever. Is this a bug? As far as i remember the key was supposed to spawn in this room.

Never played Gods before so looking forward to giving it a go.

I'm confused by the save game option. There's nothing on the main menu about loading a game so I can't see the point of it or how it works at all. I did try it anyway and it kicked me to the title screen.

Adf seemed okay to me but I only played the first two holes. I think WCLB is more sensitive to the UAE settings. It likes an older slower CPU. But I'm no expert. WHDLoad seems good regardless.

Yeah same here regarding saving, there is a save and load option on the main screen which seems to go through the process to save but as you say fails when loading.

I'm playing on an A500 and the .adf is screwy but maybe because I'm also using an accelerator.

That's Westchester CC done, don't think I will improve on that, just got to master Muirfield Village now and add the two together :)

Got stuck when I couldn't get a trapdoor to open in level 1-3. Like I said I've always been rubbish at gods.

RuySan you can check a Gods walkthrough or a YT longplay you'll see that there are no bugs only secrets :). And to get the diamond at level 1.2 you have to pull the right lever first, then the left lever.

pulling the left lever is a little too obvious so if you do this directly you're rewarded by a spike :) You reached 1.3 so you're hooked. Keep playing. You're not going to win the competition but this game is worth it.

Worth reminding everyone that Leaderboard encourages finishing the game. Anyone who is hooked and is struggling to improve their score might want to also go for the beat the game badge. Gods has level passwords and you can use any passwords you receive while playing for that badge (but not for scores). I intend to do this as a way to also practice the later levels for a better score run.


Tonight, I exchanged spikes for sand traps.

Had a go at Westchester, mostly blind as I'd only checked the first two holes quickly before. Didn't do too bad. This game really brings out the understated power fist when you get a long putt. For bogeys I tend to flip the birdie.

Yikes, Harry seems to be a true master of this game. I can barely manage to reach the second stage. :S

I don't have time to try to match Harry score. Pity.

That's okay, your tips will be appreciated, especially by a newb like myself. I'm sure someone will put up a good fight.

In the second world of the first level (or is it second level first world? :S ), before the trapdoor, there is a nice health bonus in a ledge far, far ahead. How do I reach the thing? I need this health before falling down the trapdoor!

This is absolute insanity. I have no idea what have I been doing with my life to keep on being so shit at Gods.

I just picked up a post. In the second world of the first level, you reach that health token from above.

In the first world, you must press the last "hidden" switch ("hidden" switches look almost like background), how you do that is contained in my first link below. Then, in the first part of the second world of the first level, you must press the right hidden switch on the right platform first, then walk left and kill all enemies there on the left side. Then press the left hidden switch on the left platform while holding the key from below the platform. A giant jump potion will appear allowing you to jump to the roof for a nice bonus.

I discovered most of the secrets as I played Gods to death back in the days (and contributed to that website). However, I couldnt discover all the secrets alone and was glad to have found that website. Of course not everything is on that website, you have to know where the enemies spawn to kill them with no or little energy loss.
