Amiga games you want released on the DS or any other platform.

Hehe, well as the title suggests are there any Amiga games that you would like to see emulated or ported to another platform that are currently not seeing the light of day?

I for one would love to see Dune II - Battle for Arrakis and Championship Manager '93 on the Nintendo DS. I would love to command Ordos to victory using the stylus and dual screen. I think it would probably have to be the Dos versions of the games be ported, as posts on other threads have stated it would be nion impossible to get an Amiga emulator ported to the mere 67 MHz DS.

Nice idea for a thread. Wonder where you got it from? :cheese

I'd go for games like Cannon Fodder and Syndicate - they'd translate to the DS pretty well I think.

Ports of Call
High Seas Trader
Railroad Tycoon
Theme Park
Power Monger
Colonization

any of the these make it onto DS and I'm buying one :)

Some interesting thoughts (check out RTS4DS for a WIP Dune II style RTS engine) though personally I would like to see something that makes use of the DS' 3D talents for example:
  • Gunship 2000
  • Stunt Car Racer - with wifi multiplayer of course ;)
  • Midwinter
  • Starglider 2

@KG

Brilliant! There's even a Geometry Wars port. Sweet.

Another item on the shopping list ;)

There are also ports of:
- Sim City (based on the 3000 version though)
- Settlers (Settlers II, the best in my opinion, but I read it was a bit buggy).

Also for those who might have missed thread mentionning them, there is a port of:
- Rainbow island (drawing the rainbows with the stylus, a bit awkward I found)
- Robocod
- Bubble Bobble Revolution includes a port of the original arcade game (with the possibility to switch with one shoulder button between the original screen ratio, which crops the sprites a bit but remains playable in my opinion and full size with displays original-sized sprites and scroll the screen to center the action)

Finally, 2kgames (Sid Meier) have announced they would published Civilization Revolution DS this year.:agree

Regarding the use of the stylus for strategy/RTS/god games it's quite nice but a bit frustrating sometimes because of lack of right click alternative.
I like Panzer Tactics, which use a 'flower' of possible action around the selected unit, then you just have to select the desired action. Yet, sometimes when you want to cancel something or navigate through the map while having a unit in move mode, things don't seem intuitive.

I guess the developers will learn little by little how to make the best interfaces. I see using a shoulder button as potential winner for a right click alternative ie displaying alternative commandes.

Stunt Car Racer
Lotus 2
Worms DC
Kalaspuffsexpressen :)

Chaos Engine and Speedball 2 would be awesome on the GBA. Especially Speedball 2 multi player would be great on such machines. But sadly, unless someone ports these great games themselves, it's just not going to happen, is it.

Yup Theme Park is out for the DS and it actually is a very good port imo, not many updates to talk of tho, which is disappointing.

Yeah I have come across this already, unfortunately he will not be releasing his Dune II effort to the public. :(

I wonder how cannon fodder would implement the stylus, if it could.

s2325 05 February 2008 11:09
