Fellow Wing Commander fans

Hey all!

I got the space sci-fi sim game "Wing Commander" in 1992...(I think it was 1992 anways).
Exciting story, great graphics, a feeling of making a difference (in a story)and memorable characters.
This game, along with the earlier "Elite", broke alot of barries which today, I'm sorry to say, are still static.

Wing Commander had several sequels, the last of which (official) was Wing Commander Secret Ops (1998). The Space sim, sci-fi genre is mostly inactive with a few exceptions so we cant expect a sequel anytime soon.
Though if you feel nostalgic about Wing Commander, and havent yet heard of the ultimate WC fansite from over 12 years ago, I recommend the site "Wcnews.com" website for yer WC updates and fan-project updates.

Cheers fellow WC-fans! :)

I first played Wing Commander on a stock 1-MB A500. That was an interesting experience for sure. But I managed to win the game.

Later I played in on an A1200 with a hard drive - much better!

Too bad the Secret Mission disks were never released for the Amiga.

Yeah, I played wc on a500 first, it was one of the first games I tried out on the a1200 when I upgraded... So much better!
I also like the story driven space combat and the extra manuals and blueprints were cool...
... I also have wc3 and wc4 on psx, great too!

Wing Commander 2 is considered the best in the series.

I still sometimes have the theme in my head which was played in the WC2 Kilrathi cutscenes. And I haven't played Wing Commander for 15 years.

Early title for Wing Commander was Wingleader: http://img34.imageshack.us/img34/557...eaderkebab.png

Hey all, sorry for advertising, but if you are a member of gog like I am, you will notice that all the Wing Commander games are available for purchase.
Unlike other retailers, these guys at GoG.com provide a way for Windows 7 (modern users) to actually play the games on said platforms. Not only Wing Commander but other and older titles as well.
Check them out!

Wing commander III was the one that did it for me...amazing detailed cockpits i was really into it and have since bought it from GOG ...Cockpit and feel of the game is still the same.....WC4 lost it a little for me although i did complete it.....

New Game From Chris Roberts Coming Soon?

A repeat of my post on Amibay, Chris Roberts is up to something, could it be a new Wing Commander game, Freelancer or something else? Have a look here

I guess everybody already knows, but for the ones who missed it. After several years of development, the excellent freeware fanproject Wing Commander Saga was finally released this march. It makes use of a modified Freespace 2 engine, so your PC doesn't have to be top notch.

I love Wing Commander! The first two games were the best in my eyes...The last one I played was the dreadful Abomination on XBLA, shouldn't be hard to improve on that..Just give me a cockpit view and I'm happy.

Kudos to the last posts after mine :)

And yeah! Roberts is back and cooking with sci-fi flightsim gas! :D

Space opera as a genre is dead, Open Freespace is probably our last best hope (TM)
Freespace 2 on it is excelent, well worth a GOG buy. Xbox 360 controller works really well.

And there's even hope of a wing commander conversion:

*DUH* just realized I'm once again the guy late to the party...*choughcpthindsight*
