FS-UAE libretro port?

Would it be possible to port it over to libretro api. That way more platforms could be supported and is probably much easier to support / manage. I know, there has a lot of stuff to be done before it can happen. More info can be found here: https://github.com/Themaister and http://themaister.net/retroarch.html

I'm sure it is possible, but not necessarily without creating more problems than it solves (and it is vague what problems it would solve anyway). As you say, it would mean extra work, and I don't see the big upside here.

I can only speak for myself, of course! -FS-UAE is GPL, so anyone else is free to do this if motivated...

+1 for this!

Advantages off the top of my head:

- UI abstraction (There is ongoing work integrating libretro launcher in XBMC for instance)
- Video, audio, input abstraction (Cg/HLSL shaders, better gamepad support)
- Portability?

Integration in MameCab Livemamecab (i.e) Linux one

:)

I hope we'll get binaries soon :-)

...and a OAGD scraper should be also good :-D

Resurrecting thread again as time has marched on! With the popularity of portable gaming emulators e.g. raspberry pi, the audience for retro gaming is getting larger and larger and there is a lot of love for the Amiga out there. The retroarch framework simplifies and standardizes across platforms.

There's a P-UAE libretro core which I'm using on my modified SNES classic mini console - see my thread on the reddit forum here

https://www.reddit.com/r/miniSNESmod..._snes_classic/

It's not the easiest thing to set-up and there are a lot of issues with it being based on older emulation code.

If someone had the time, skill, and motivation getting FS_UAE ported over it would be a godsend to help to grow the Amiga audience and expose newcomers to this beloved system.

i assume fs-uae is aimed to pc's not some crap 20$ cheap hardware

Retro-Nerd 14 May 2018 18:37

Huh? Libretro/Retroarch runs fine on PCs too. I would love to see a FS-UAE or WinUAE core port for it. :)

As mentioned Retroarch is a cross platform solution that runs on PCs too. If a by-product of porting this over is making Amiga games available on "$20 Cheap Hardware" then isn't that a great thing?
