I think this is all a bit silly, someone should just host the key file for this.

I mean, it's old, not longer sold and the author said he's happy to give it away....what more do you need?

Thanks for clarifying this bit Moya! I wasn't much aware of that.
Donated 35$ just for the total reaching 500$ :)

Cheers

Firstbase 12 January 2011 00:51

Cammy 12 January 2011 01:07

You can get PFS3 here http://www.amigafuture.de/kb.php?mode=article&k=3431

mfletcher 12 January 2011 05:33

@Cammy,

Sure, theres english and german versions available. But Amiga Future only has the serial for the german version...

mfilos 12 January 2011 07:22

You can easily edit PFS installation script replacing the declaration of language:
(set #language "ger")
to
(set #language "eng")
Or fra or ita if you prefer.

On installation, setup will realize that language is German based to your key, but it's gonna install the English version just fine (or French/Italian based on your preference). Just remember to do the same procedure to the update as well :)

Does this mean that if you buy the English version of the magazine you don't get a registered version of PFS3? or that the program is in German and you have to use mfilos' trick?

How come it has taken so long to release a free version even though it just needs a license change? has he started working on PFS4? (we wish :cheese)

With the english magazine you get the registered german version, but if you apply mflios trick, you get it in english. :)

The author of PFS3 is also looking to release the source code of the program too, along with with build/make instructions. He is doing all this in his spare time, which is extremely limited.
Last week, I believe he was testing the compilation/linking of his sources, as he asked me a technical question that I posted on this forum.

lets hope its just 2 more weeks away from a proper release

Any chance of a "for dummies" guide to this please? I've got the files on my Amiga but when I run installation everything is in English so I can't register, do I need to set Workbench locale to German first? and which file is the installation script that I need to edit?

Retrofan 10 April 2011 23:53

PFS3 in Aminet. That's great. I hope it will be improved having the source code.

rare_j 11 April 2011 00:27

Brilliant, I bet aminet hasnt had this many people hammering F5 on the 'recent' page for years!
A major release on the scene for sure. :)

gulliver 11 April 2011 05:59
