A progress update from the Apollo guys would be nice.

I think a progress report from Dec. 24th is quite recent:

Nice! Too bad about the potato-camera however.

It would be nice to see a new Amiga case (Amiga 1600 ?) with the Vampire standalone in it, sold all together.

I mean a real new wedge case with the Amiga logo on it, specially designed for the VS.

(I remember someone did have made some 3D sketches of a new Amiga keyboard)

I bet this would have some interest for many people that don't necessarily want to put 300€ in 30 years old hardware but are interested of a all-in-one working modern and classy new Amiga.
And this will interestingly expand the Amiga users base.

I think it would be very cool if the Vampire guys could design the stand-alone board to be compatible with the new A1200 cases, or if someone could come up with an adapter or something along those lines. I think Phil said in an update that new A500 cases might be in the works too? I could be mistaken on that...

sokolovic 16 March 2018 16:35

Brett71, I'd prefer a brand new wedge Amiga kb sold with the Vampire that you just plug and then play with it without being a master electronician.
It will be a big step to expand Amiga users and I'm pretty sure that this could sell very well, considering the actual retro fashion and the entry price to use a real Amiga.

A1200 case are made for people that have already an Amiga, same thing for the news keycaps : you have to put the keycaps on an existant keyboard.

And yes, they are going to launch the campaign for the A500 cases.

Brand new proper Amiga keyboards (and keyboards controllers, with USB too) is sort of a holy grail that I hope someone like Phil will have a go at :)

I'm slowly running out of patience for V4 and want in on the Vampire experience. What is the current lead time for a 500 V2+ order on the apollo site?

SvladJelly 17 April 2018 09:57

I too have been waiting YEARS for my Vampire A1200.
:sad :crying

22 days

spudje 17 April 2018 10:29

OK, that is acceptable and most likely a lot quicker than when the V4 will be here, if that will even be 2018 for the standalone or a1200 version...

jediknight 18 April 2018 00:07

i want one nowwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwww standalone one for me sounds awesome.

hawkeye 22 April 2018 13:16

I had an preorder for V2+ but cancelled it... waiting for V4 for my A2000...

Edge connectors are an issue for the A1200 version, which may not have been resolved yet. Kipper2K was going to produce A600 adapters, but he has since left the team. The stand-alone V4 is useless until all hardware functionality (AGA, ethernet, USB, Paula and 16 bit audio, serial, parallel etc.) is incorporated into the core.

The estimated release date was probably too optimistic, but it's only been 8 months or so since the announcement. Give the team a chance, they are doing this as a hobby project.

That's beyond the scope of the Vampire project, especially as it would require new keyboards, which nobody seems to be working on right now. It would be much easier to design a 3D printed mounting bracket which fits the new A1200 cases and use extension cables to connect the IO ports to the rear of the case, although you'll still need a keyboard.
