Now have a look at this. It is a Microsoft book about the Amiga. Seeing is believing.

Yep, that book has been around for a long time though. I bought a copy of it quite some time before Commodore went belly up.

They also did a Macintosh Book - I have a copy of The Apple Macintosh Book 4th edn / Cary Lu 1992. Published by Microsoft Press.

But for the ultimate sacriledge check out this defective program which was bundled with Workbench:

Well, you have to remember that Microsoft began life as a dirty whore, supplying BASIC interpreters for a host of different machines that were competing for market share both before and for some time after the debut of the original IBM PC. Besides AmigaBasic and C64 BASIC, they also produced Microsoft BASIC for the Mac, Applesoft BASIC for the Apple II series, and undoubtedly did other versions of BASIC for other machines I've forgotten about long ago. They never had any particular loyalty to any one platform over another unless that platform gave them a broader market share than any other. When the IBM PC came out, they supplied not only the BASIC interpreter, but MS-DOS as well, which meant that they got more out of each PC sale than they did from sales of any other machine with an OS they didn't create. They're still dirty whores even after all these years, but incredibly wealthy ones.

Just for the record

Microsoft also wrote MSX-Basic, which is arguably the best basic interpreter EVER around.

They also wrote MSX-DOS. MSX-DOS 2 was written by Ascii and it was 200 times better

I had an MSX for a number of years and it certainly was nothing special. The most powerful, well-designed BASIC was that of the Acorn series computers (very similar, from the ATOM and up to the Archimedes), possibly followed by the excellent Apple II Integer BASIC, which was very tight.

I bet I'm the only one here that likes (or admits that he likes) Microsoft and their products. NOT Visual XXX .NET thought... that sucks!
