Shadow of the Beast running from HD in WInUAE

Anyone know how/if its possible to set this up?
I have seen a WHDLoad file for shadow of the beast, but I read that WHDLoads only work on original disks (i would be using ADF's) and not cracked ADFs. Is this true and is there any way round this?

Alternatively is it possible to find uncracked ADFs of Shadow of the Beast? I presume that using these, and the WHDLoad thing, I could get it running? I own the original amiga game, but have no way of getting it onto my PC.

Thanks.

I suppose you didn;t read our FAQs. Bloody hell...

1st, this topic can be found a-plenty if you use the SEARCH function

2nd, CodyJ has made an excellent FAQ to what is WHDLoad and what does it do. You would have seen it if you would have read our FAQs section, which should have been your FIRST STOP before posting anything at the EAB. when you signup you are told to read this section.

3rd, you posted this in the wrong section. This should go in the "New to emulation/Amiga scene forum"

Anyway go here: tomtoms.amiga-spiele.net/

This URL is to be found easily using the search function.

Send a message via ICQ to Sir Kidd
Second that, everyone wants to start emulating as fast as possible and personal help is much better.

I always find that sarcasm and general dislike towards a noob always brings em back and helps em setup an emulator much quicker.

I think I'm gonna take a long break from here.

It's never really bugged me before but the attitudes of some people and they way that views are expressed is starting to really bug me. I'm not gonna whinge about it and I'm not asking anyone to change, I'm just gonna leave it be.

I completely agree with KG, and it's been like it for months.

Is that a excuse to be obnoxious to new people? Surprised if they bother coming back.

Jamie - I've put a full WHDLoad install of Shadow Of The Beast in the Zone (the link is in the buttons at the top right hand corner of this webpage). You'll need to install WHDLoad before running it.

Obviously no one I would care about if he returns to EAB or not reads FAQs, because it is much better to let someone else solve your problems for yourself while you jack-off or something similar.

I'msorry if people don't like my answers, you are free to do as you plese with these topics, I'll do what I feel like doing. Nobody wrote those FAQs for nothing, they are there for a reason, and after saying teh same shit 10000 times you get tired of it.

Come on, no one installs stuff for themselves. Put up an image of your hard drive with Windows, winUAE and WHDLoad installed, as well as SOTB!

Bye bye

But to really answer your question.

ADF doesnt in any way store any critical information that the original would have on it, this includes copy protection.

In all honesty, there isnt such thing as a NON-Cracked ADF of a game, unless the original of the said game was able to fit within the ADF specifications. Games which did this were games that used Amigados formatted disks without copy protection.

one example would be FA/18 Interceptor, its only protection was a codewheel, the disk itself was 100% amigados, and could exist on an ADF image intact.

Shadow of the beast however, as discussed in the CAPS forums used its own format, with custom protection routines. The only reason it exists on the IPF format is because the format was written with complex floppy disk formats in mind. Having said that, Psygnosis took a few shortcuts with the mastering and made CAPS job a bit harder.

The discussion about Shadow of the beast and the problems they are having with the game is here.
Next update ?
