Christian A. Weber games

Christian A. Weber ported many other games from Atari ST and PC to Amiga. Apart from what is is HOL already, those games are:

Eliminator
Star Wars
Trans World
Realms Of Arkania

Also many others, but I don't have names.

BTW, this should be considered verified because it came from the man himself.

Thanks! (albeit a bit late )

Well what should I do then?

Kick out the Eliminator programmer John M. Phillips, put in C. A. Weber and 'dispel' Phillips into Misc field?
'Porting' in my eyes means that he (Weber) coded the Amiga version, didn't he?

Sorry, missed that reply.

Well, I got this from Mr. Weber himself, so yes, I think you should do exactly that.

It might be nice to find out how John M. Phillips got put there instead. He may not have anything to do with the Amiga version (i.e. he ported the game to C64 or something)

Perhaps I should Christian again to see if John has anything to do with the game...

John Phillips conceived the game and coded the Atari ST version. No doubt the Amiga version was an ST port and, as is sometimes the case, the ST coders were retained on the titlescreen of the Amiga conversion giving the illusion that they were directly involved in the Amiga coding. Occasionally the real coders are listed in the game contents. I'll have a look at my copy and see if I can uncover anything more about the Linel team involved with the Amiga conversion.

Thought I had an original release of Eliminator, but perhaps I confused it with another Hewson game. Only found a compilation version and the bundled Eliminator docs don't list any credits. Perhaps Christian Weber (and Fiath) can shed some light on this one..........

But a port from the ST version would not be a complete re-write (both 68000), so it's surely incorrect to remove the existing credits. So on that basis, the ST coders were directly involved in the Amiga port.

I'm only making an educated guess that it was an ST port. For all we know, the Linel team may have just used the ST titlescreen for the Amiga conversion and tacked themselves on to the existing ST credits as the coders of the Amiga version. Since we can't tell for sure, John Phillips gets a Misc credit for designing the game and a Music credit (he uses a custom format) in the HOL entry.

If the Amiga conversion was confirmed to be an ST port, the ST coders could not be given direct credit anyway because we have no idea what part of the code was retained by Linel (i.e. main code, graphics etc.). In this instance, the ST coders could only be inserted into the Misc credits.

We can only work with the credits that we can extract from the game contents and use our experience to filter out the correct credits from, what is sometimes, ambiguous info. Obviously if we hear differently from official sources like Christian Weber then we're compelled to change credits. However, we're not going to insert credits or change them on the basis of uninformed guesses or hunches (whether they be our own or those from other sources). Too much of this occurred in the embryonic stages of HOL, which has created a lot of extra work for the HOL team in the form of error correction over the last 12 months.

Arrow Eliminator (again)

Could you please mail Christian once again and ask him in what way his namesake Chris Haller was involved in game development?
(Haller is mentioned on the game intro screen.)
