The Silicon Dreams festival celebrates our silicon chip age. If you appreciate all things electronic, then this is the event for you. Modern and Retro, this event will feature a wide range of exhibits including computing, gaming, music, film and so much more…

This will be a family event including computing workshops, retro computing and vintage gaming. It doesn't stop there - we'll also have film-related entertainment, arts activities and - of course - electronic music. On top of all this, there will be all the attractions of our host venue including science, engineering, fashion and toy galleries, a heritage railway and an area for under 5's. There is also the country park nearby. It will be the first of its kind and we think that it will be a very special weekend for everyone.
Raspberry Jam will be running on the Friday and Saturday of the festival - the former aimed towards the education sector itself. The Saturday will feature as part of the main festival and will be more suitable for families, younger family members, hobbyists - in fact just about anyone! If you'd like to know more about the Pi, learning to program, or if you have a family member who is interested then this is for you.
But there's more...
The Silicon Dreams festival is to be joined by one of the Godfathers of British synthesiser music. Martyn Ware, co-founder of The Human League, Heaven 17 and British Electric Foundation will be hosting An Evening With… special event on Saturday 6th July. He will talk about his career as one of the pioneers of British electronic music who helped change the charts forever. Later in the evening he will be joined by special guests Northern Kind and Heaven 17 for some fantastic live performances.

It all takes place at Snibston Discovery Park, Coalville in Leicestershire from the 5th to the 7th of July 2013.

CiA Has Upgraded the Forum to vBulletin 4.2.1

I am extremely happy to announce that *CiA (Commodore is Awesome) (http://awesome.commodore.me/forum/forum.php)* has finally upgraded their forum software to vBulletin 4.2.1.

I am extremely happy to announce that CiA (Commodore is Awesome) has finally upgraded their forum software to vBulletin 4.2.1. This has been an extremely tense past couple of days, as everything has kinda hampered us in almost every direction, whether it be time differences or just the overpowering red tape that's involved, but thankfully we got there in the end :)

Although the initial steps have been completed, we are still currently working very hard in the background to bring everyone the new experience of the forum. Please bear with us though, as we too, are just as new to the experience as you are.

We are, and will be, upgrading again sometime in the near future to vBulletin 5 Connect, so if things seem to have halted on the forums, it's probably because we are in process of upgrading again :)

vBulletin upgrades should not effect user accounts, however, sometimes these upgrades can cause some hiccups along the way, and if you're having trouble signing in, or can't access a part of the forum, please report it to either myself or to one of the other Admins of the CiA forum, and we'll do our best to resolve the problem.

I hope you'll all enjoy the new forum and the new experience it will bring :) Now, I need a stiff drink after all of this :spin :crazy

New features:

- Full 68030, 68040 and 68060 MMU emulation. Amix, Linux, NetBSD, Enforcer, WHDLoad MMU option and more fully working.
- SCSI and ATAPI (IDE) CD drive emulation.
- Built-in full CHD CD and HD image support. HD image support is read-only.
- Added support for mountlist-like hardfile configuration files.
- 100Hz+ vsync mode black frame insertion support, reduces LCD motion blur.

Updates:

- A590/A2091/A3000 SCSI emulation compatibility improved. (Amix, NetBSD etc..)
- A2065 network adapter compatibility improved. (Early NetBSD versions)
- GamePorts panel Swap Ports button cleared custom mappings.
- 68060 CPU and More compatible checked was unreliable.
- 68040/68060 no FPU/FPU disabled exception stack frame fixed.
- A2024 and Graffiti emulation memory leak fixed.
- FPU rounding mode was reset when using filters.
- Some USB game controllers had ghost events (move axis, button event is triggered or vice versa)
- CD32 CDs with multiple tracks didn't boot.

And much more.

Bug reports (and more) will be ignored in this thread.

Keyrah lets you use keyboards and joysticks of classic computers on the USB port of a modern PC, Mac or Raspberry Pi. We have given our popular product a complete makeover and we'll be able to serve the increased demand starting may 20th, 2013.

The most important change in version 2 is that there is no difference between country-specific keyboard layouts any more. Also, Keyrah V2 does not make a difference between 8-bit computers and Amiga any more: The different versions and layouts can now be chosen with a jumper setting. The following keyboard models are supported out of the box:

C64 (all models)

VIC-20

C16

Amiga 1200

Amiga 600

The following keyboards can be used with some soldering and added parts (available separately):

C128D

C128

C116, plus/4

In addition to the keyboard, you can use up to two digital joysticks that behave as if the user would press keys on a keyboard.

The first version of Keyrah was already equipped with a replica switch that resembled the C64 power switch. It was used to choose between one of two keyboard layouts: One for everyday use, and the other for use in an emulator. This switch is also available on Keyrah V2, and it has a third non-latching position: If you press and hold the switch in this position for more than one second, the ACPI-signal is sent to the computer, which will either shut down, or go into a power saving mode, depending on the settings in your operating system.

Keyrah V2 is shipped in retail packing with a short manual. An off-the-shelve USB cable is required separately. The recommended retail price of Keyrah V2 is 34,90 EUR (*).

Just like with the first version of Keyrah, we would like to emphasize that we cannot support gutting out functional classic computers. Keyrah V2 is only meant for giving new life to keyboards of irrepairably defective C64, Amiga or other computers.

(*)recommended retail price including 19% VAT. Price and VAT rate may differ in your country. Shipping cost may be added.

Cropky is an Amiga version of Dots - an abstract strategy game played by two people on a sheet of squared paper. The rules are a bit different from original Dots game - your aim is not to capture enemy dots but to link two dots together with a line drawn in any direction you want as long as you don't cross already existing lines or you have where to draw another line (the dot is visible not farther than one square distance - vertically, horizontally or diagonally). Cropky is a conversion of a game under the same title from Atari XL/XE. The original idea comes from Krzysztof "Kaz" Ziembik who was persuaded to give permission to create Amiga version by Mariusz "Ramos" Rozwadowski. With the abilities and knowledge of Adam Stach (programmer), Piotr "Piesiu" Radecki (graphics) and Piotr "Pece" Cieślik (music) they created a neat and not so easy game running on any Amiga with at least 1 MB of RAM. The game can be downloaded as an ADF file or LhA archive.
Update for X-Surf networking card

The X-Surf networking card has been sold out for a few years now, but it got back into focus for many users with the release of the new TCP/IP stack "Roadshow". Although Roadshow lacks a graphical user interface and thus does not offer any comfort in setting up a network, the performance is stunning: In certain cases it's more than three times faster than AmiTCP or Miami, and for the first time now, the 10MBit limit of the X-Surf card could be saturated.

This has triggered bugs - not just in the X-Surf, but also in equipment that is connected to the card: When the X-Surf had to handle a defective packet, the computer would freeze sometimes. This bug has been fixed in version V1.3 of the x-surf.device.

Although official support for the X-Surf has ended years ago, we will answer support tickets for this card in the next few weeks for a limited time.
