I've just downloaded an emulator for the Amiga (WinUAE 0.8.8)and i'm very confused on how to play games on it. I've downloaded eye of the beholder and others. I go to unzip it and i get a .adf file. Shouldn't it have a uae file or something? I'm completely lost and have now idea what to do. I would heaps appreciate any help anyone can provide (step by step instructions etc).:confused

An ADF file is an Amiga Disk File - it is a snapshot in a file of the contents of an Amiga disk. It should be 901120 bytes in size.

A UAE file is a configuration file for UAE. You can specify what processor your emulated Amiga will have, how much memory, etc. and save the configuration in one of these files.

How much Amiga knowledge do you have?

No, because the ADFs are copies of the original (probably pirate copies) of the Amiga floppy disks.

If you want an A500, you need to select a 68000 CPU, 512K Chip RAM, 1.3 Kickstart ROM etc. Choose your graphics and sound settings too.

There are four floppy drives, so you can insert each of the three Eye Of The Beholder disks into the first three floppy drives. It's easier to install the disks to a hard drive, but that's probably too complicated for now...

As mentioned above, you will need a Kickstart ROM. Do a search on Google for these.

Also, there are a number of guides to using the Amiga emulators (WinUAE and WinFellow) on the Internet. I can't remember where, though.

Nope. Set up your configuration to fit the game you want to play (CPU, Memory, Chipset etc), load the first ADF in the Floppy section and start the emulator.

Oh, you need a kickstart ROM to get started. There's a field in the memory section where you have to specify where your ROM is located.

Well, double help is better than no help, I guess!

Read the following web page http://www.amiga-gaming-world.co.uk/howtowinuae.htm

and when Amiga Legal Emulation is back on-line that site has better guides to look at.
