Maybe your version is a bad crack..elaborate, can you play the game or not? are you using emulation or real deal Amiga?
if you have the ADf, would you please upload it? I have it for the PC but never tried it for the Amiga..:)

Not that it's the defacto standard for checking whether games work or not, known issues for many games can be found by looking them up at the Back 2 The Roots site:

http://www.back2roots.org/

The problems you speak of in this game, as well as the ones you asked about in Extase, were both noted on the Back 2 The Roots notes. You should check there after a game fails for you before posting for help, since if it's a known issue, it's likely an emulation problem.

Well I just found it and I am trying all dozen of my configs for A 500 emulation...problems, will send you config if I figure it out, guys........now I will stay up all night, as I love empire building sims:):cool

For the record, my version of the game is the Crystal crack. It gives a different message on the screen than "inser a.dat", so I just thought I'd point that out. The message on mine says "Started raj.prg as a background task" which tells me two things: 1) it uses runback to launch the executable, and 2) the .prg extension tells me it's ported from the AtariST (as well as the sound files being in .MID format!)

Ohhh ... don't be fooled by BTTR infos when it's in fact an ADF image and not an emulator problem. BTTR was right indeed that the (net) version of PRISON "didn't work on emulators" and that it "GURUs". But it wasn't the image but a rotten-to-the-core net copy!

So the better thing to see if Champions Of Raj work is to test it on the REAL thing if possible! (the net version of PRISON failed on my A500)

@Champion:

Could you please tell me where you downloaded the game from so I can compare my CRYSTAL copy and this one?
(NOTE: if your version is from XTPOWER, /please/ post it here. I haven't been able to log into there since 2 weeks now.)

Thanks.

Well, I meant emulation since BTTR really has little to do with reporting the working status of games on a real Amiga. But I should have clarified.

Twist it seems both Amiga AND Atari versions are unemulateable. I am sorry ..truly..forgive me.
I also like to compare and to see if I can play a game on the Atari St emus that I could not on the Amiga emus. Take for example the great flight combat sim, Reach for the Skies. Until Ian Charge helped me to set the correct WinUAE and WinFellow config, I had to resort for the Atari St version. graphically, the Amiga was only slightly better. TheWinfellow screenshot here is slightly buggy, but the WinUAE version 8.14 r 3 works perfect....
Oh, and I STILL can't get that double bareled screenshot going, Twist:mad :mad

And the ST version, using WInston v.5
The climatics are the PE 2000 version for the Atari St nuts, but vastly more complete than Pe 2000!!
here is a link..lets see if you REALLY have every menu disk ever, Twist;)
Oh, and I have a cd burned with many as well..still zipped, beacuse Winston plays zipped discs.

http://www.climatics.com/Filearea/FileArea.php

The next link is a search..type just a name of the game, part of it and it'll do a search..very reliable!

http://www.climatics.com/Filearea/FileSearch.php

The following screen is the Atari St version.....not bad at all!

Oh, OK...I have been there before. I will look it over a little more deeply when I get home from work.

BTW: have you tried any of these new ST emulators like Steem, Saint and others?

Fred the Fop
21 July 2001, 04:27
Well the GUI on the Saint and Steem leave MUCH to be desired. Winston is nice...its no WInUAE, but it is the best, cmpatablity -wise.
Oh yeah, Twist. A perfect example of a game that i cannot find , let alone play , is Night Raider. Great game, man.....Atari St version is what I play.

Twistin'Ghost

And Dragon's Breath, which appears to be cracked proper for the ST, just doesn't play worth a damn in Winston.

Oh, and I tried to play a game from a zip file, but the requester only had support for *.MSA and *.ST files. So how do you get zip files to work?

I posted Night Raider (Dive Bomber), so go get it..It should open it automatically..what version of Winston use ye?
I have it open now, and when I click the disc icon, this is what I see.
Maybe you should stop using that bong for a sec and..;) heehee

My bad...I still had 2r2 installed, so I went ahead and installed v4 and I get the *.zip support. Thanks for pointing this out!

Remember the game Champions of the Raj? This game has been unemulatable. not even the cractro appears. All sorts of configs, emulators, etc...nothing. nada....nichts.
Is there a way to examine the disk? I am in my office now and need to upload it when i get home later. Was it a bad dump? Hmm

What dost thou speak of Fred?

It works for me :)

WinUAE 0.817r2 (the directory was open so I used it...Of course, it was Sane's AVI version, but that doesn't matter :))

Dreamzone version of the game

Amigaboy's config. PM me for it :D

Confirmed for WinUAE 0.8.21 R2 as well.
Great work, guys! :):)
No "breakneck" config needed anymore. :D
Mouse moves a bit jerky, though.
Beautiful game!
