Player 2 joypad issue

Apologies if this is really simple question to answer but when I plug in my joypad it always seems to operate as the controller for player 2 rather than player 1. What options would I need to change so that my joypad will operate player 1? I have nothing else plugged into any USB port.

Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Open the Game Ports settings WinUAE Properties window and swap the Port 1 and Port 2 assignments.
