View Full Version : Best CDFS for WinUAE usage?

I'm trying to roll my own Workbench setup and I'm wondering if anybody has any recommendations for the best CDFS to use with WinUAE. Obviously the built-in 3.1 CDFS is worthless, but beyond that I'm at a loss. CacheCDFS (as included in the Amiga Forever pseudo-3.9 setup) is OK but I'm not sure how to copy it into a different system. Currently I'm really liking AsimCDFS, but it has a lot of extra functions that aren't really useful in an emulated environment (WinUAE already emulates CDTV and CD32, why do I need a CD driver that does the same). Does anybody have any hints or should I just stick with AsimCDFS for now?

I use my 1200 for playing CD32 games.
I had murder with games not loading etc etc.
I used the the CDFS from OS3.9 and all my CD32 games run flawless.
So for me, the standard OS3.9 is the best. DVD's, CD's all work perfect.

Someday WinUAE may have built-in cdfs borrowed from AROS with automount capability.
Of course it will be configurable, I don't want to break existing cdfs setups.

Someday WinUAE may have built-in cdfs borrowed from AROS with automount capability.
This will be in next beta.
I am not yet sure which is the best way to configure it, currently it works this way:
- uaescsi.device and "Include CD/DVD drives.." enabled: uaescsi.device + CDFS automount.
- "Include CD/DVD drives.." without uaescsi.device: Mount as harddrives (like previously). Perhaps this method can be removed in the future. If/when AROS CDFS is confirmed good enough.
