I just got a Toaster Oven based A4000 Tower from a High School today. It cost me a little more than it should have but it has a Video Toaster 4000 and a Flyer in it. I will be sooping it up with a Warp Engine and some other goodies. I will offer it to EAB members before USENET & ebay. Let me know if anyone is interested. I think it has around 15 or 20 Gig for Video and Audio storage.

Do you have any idea of how much it would cost?...
Probably I could not afford it, as brazillian corrency (Real) is on a free fall...

I will be taking pictures and fully testing the system this weekend. You know Retroman that the Video Toaster is NTSC right? This does not present a problem if you are a programmer and want to write code for the Toaster. It would represent a problem if you plan to use this machine for video production in Gremany or any other country that uses the PAL or SECAM standard though. Are you a programmer Retroman?

Since it includes the Flyer it will not be a low price. The Flyer card alone used to cost $5000 and this machine can be used to make money doing development or video production. It will be much less than $5000 though, what kind of price were you looking for?

Well, kinda ;) The NTSC thingy wonīt be a problem at all since it could be converted whatever, but I donīt think I need such a professional machine (never new these Video Toaster cards are soooooo expensive :shocked )

If you are a good programmer and would consider helping me with the Video Toaster Flyer sourcecode which will be released soon I would offer you a discount. The Toaster software is awesome but it needs a few features added like Cybergraphics support and a few other tweaks. I would be willing to sell the whole machine to you for $1595 if you help me with the effort. This machine has a Warp Engine, over 20 GB of storage, The Video Toaster 4000 card and the Video Toaster Flyer card (the pricey one). I would offer this very low price to any programmer that will help me update the Video Toaster sourcecode once it is released.

I would like to help you with the source :) But the A4000 is definitely too expensive for me :sad The Problem is, I only got experience with the P96 Drivers, never had a system with CGX system on it ..... but I still want to offer my help :)

The Flyer card is what makes it expensive. This card allows you to capture video with very little compression and you can edit everything on the harddisk (tapeless editing). You apply all your effects, CG, DVE etc. then copy the finished video back to tape or DVD.

Yes it sure does, you would not need one though if your buying an Amiga Video Toaster system for programming and development perposes. I used to know one developer that lived in Germany but bought a Video Toaster system in 1996 just to develop plug-ins for it that he sold to Americans.

Pyro, I'm not much into what you do with the Toaster..,. I know you work with it, develop for it or something like that. Can I get more info?
Since I'm involved in the digital video biz too, I'd love to have one of these (amigaaaaa over anything else man :)), but the price is out of my league. I need other equipment first (like a bloody MX30 Panasonic video mixer!).

I develop plug-ins and effect packages for it. My software has been used on the TV shows Blind Date, 5th Wheel, Shipmates, Taco Bell TV spots, HBO, WWF, and many more. I pushed Newtek to make the Amiga Video Toaster opensource and am leading an effort to update the software for it. They are dragging theri feet a little on gettingthe source out but I will have it soon. Buying a Video Toaster Flyer system saves you money if you edit any video because you no longer need to do liner editing with lots of decks. Also, you no longer need CG machines or effects boxes. You need a video source to capture all your video from into the Flyer then you do all your editing digitally in the Amiga and output to tape or DVD when your done.

BTW how does it capture? Uncompressed video is bound to take a damn LOT of space... Or is does it compress on the fly like an MJPEG card (Miro *puke* *barf* DC10 etc.)?

It looks way better than MJPEG. It also has a real-time 4 input switcher and DVEs. DC10 does not compare to the elegance of the Video Toaster. A 9GB drive gives you about 40 minutes of video.
