Actually these are quite nice, I have two of them and the GVP accelerators can be upgraded, they use PGA socketed chips so you can get the 50MHz versions and the oscilator and you are rocking :D

I have one of those, 40mhz 030 4megs of GVP ram, so I CAN upgrade it to a 50 ? I have a 1GIG SCSI in it too.

Wicked.

If you do or really even if you don't install a faster CPU, I've found that the stock fan to be quite lacking :( I've found a better fan and removed the old one and installed this one in it's place. Works much better and keeps both the drive and the cpu cooler ;)

You could even mount another cooling fan inside to help out as well, I did this as well so it really has dual fan cooling :D

I admit, it is rather a small fan GVP supplied, But i think I wont go as far as a thermaltake chromeorb or the likes to it :) But the beast shocked my A3000 owning mate, to which my A500 actually kept up with speed wise :) Graphics ? well DUH :).

Well you don't have to provide quite the amount of cooling the Thermaltake Orb's do, besides they wouldn't fit.

What I did was to get a better cooling fan from an older Pentium Hetsink/Fan and used this to replace the exisiting exhaust fan that GVP had glued in place :eek and then after a some careful placement I was able to install a standard 80mm PC case fan nearly on it's side at the front of the GVP unit, at the angle the front of the A530 case is shaped ;) it blows down below the hard drive as well as over and around the hard drive. This does two things, it circulates air around the hd, which tends to heat up a bit and it also cools down the CPU/FPU socketed below the hard drive :cheese
