I'm a little less sure about this game though:
I think you controlled a female character, and you could play on the few set levels or make your own.
You jumped or ran around the screen trying to walk on every block to turn it a different colour, there were some bad guys and also an option for a trampoline floor...
Hope ya can help

This bit sounds like Skweek (or Super Skweek) to me.
Not a female character, more of a fluffy ball with arms, it's view from above.

There were so many games like that. But the trampoline floor makes it sound like a platform game, a thing Sqweek wasn't.
If it wasn't because of colors and a lady I'd have thought someone had actually converted Ghouls from the C64 to the Amiga.
Dithells maybe?

And strikes you hard where it hurts as usual.

none of these names ring a bell i'm afraid, it was a basic platform by the way - ie: it had ledges and you could jump and move off screen a bit (ie so the screen scrolls with you) but not too far.
also the blocks were (i think) glass (ice?) colour until you stepped on them.

OK, here are all the games I know that have a female main character:
Vixen (;)) [excluded]
Yolanda [excluded]
more:
Entity (Loriciel)
Lorna (Toposoft) (screenshot (http://eab.abime.net/attachment.php?s=&postid=47728))
even more: (more arcade than platformers, though)
Gem'X (Kaiko)
Super Gem'Z (Kaiko)

sexy screenshot there ;)
but nope, the character was drawn much more simply and was smaller.
My vote goes for Super Gem'Z, she's a superdeformed-thing character with bunny ears and stuff....
I dont know of another!

Still not a platformy game.

Crazy Sue is a girl...and she's on platforms, as well!
Are you sure it was an Amiga game?
IanMac
23 June 2002, 21:21
completely sure, these latest screenshots are far too complicated, there wasnt any score or lives or anything - just jumping on blocks.
maybe the character wasnt female........? but i'm pretty sure she was.
anyone got a screenshot of crazy sue? the name rings a bell - but it might just be another game i knew.
edit: whoops, twistin already did - that was a class game too, but not the one.

You know what? :cheese
That sounds like an Amiga conversion (prolly PD) of Epyx' Silicon Warrior from the C64:

much more colourful than that.

Err.. of course, he showed you a C64 game! If there is an Amiga remake it prolly has more colors.
Are the game mechanics similar to this 64 jobbie?
IanMac

whups,
and not really no :(
andreas
30 June 2002, 22:22
Ok, so say what's different compared to that C64 game above :)
Are you really sure it wasn't Yolanda (http://www.thelegacy.de/Museum/5933/) anyway?
Drake1009

Maybe the difference was that the game in question was a platform/puzzle game.

Erm, wild guess... Car Vup?
It's not a female character, actually it's CAR.. but it's cute, so it may remind female stuff.. :)
Anyone may provide a screenshot (Athoulgh I doubt it's that one)
Or maybe the PD game Touch 'n' Go ? This one was available on a The One coverdisk once.

Here's Car-Vup
IanMac
01 July 2002, 18:45
that's closer, but it was definately a human and i dont think it had much of a background.
it definately never came in a box and may have been a demo/coverdisk.
female character -> Entity?
Could it be....
agh!!....
Mr. Blobby?!?!?!
There was a female character in there, MS. Blobby. And you could play with Mr. and Jr too... Awful! It's like Car VUP but all the place is in black and white and you have to turn it into colour.
Though it has no construction kit. Anyway check out the screenshots i nicked from The One (sorry, I didnt even bother to put the magazine staright, I'm on a rush :P)

Yeesh! Another game for the famed (non-existant) "sister's favorite game" thread. :laughing
andreas
02 July 2002, 00:50
then don't forget RODLAND :laughing
"Ohhh is that cuuuuute! I wanna play it! Pretty pleeeeeeez!!" ;)
My sister used to like all the platformers. And if the character was cute, even more. Soccer kid, Wonder Dog, Arabian Nights, the lot.
Anyway, Ianmac, from what you say, if you are right, I think we'll have to venture onto PD-land and find your game. If it never came in a box it could be that it was:
1) Used
2) PD
3) Pirate
In the 1st or 3rd case, it's got to be Mr. Ploppy. We ran out of choices methinks! If it's the second case, well, we'll have to call the Masters of PD :)

mr. Blobby is a good guess..
My sister likes many different games. In MSX times, she enjoyed Salamander and Elevator Action a lot. On Amiga, she liked Wizkid, Wiz 'n' Liz, Qwak.. (hm.. ok, only cute games)
She also loves Parodius 2 on SNES, Streets of Rage 2 on Mega-Drive.. and every now and then , I see her playing a random game in any random emulator I have here.
My girlfriend, in the other side, is only interested in cute games :)
oi Ian, are you dead? You never replied if it is Mr blobby (aha ha! ermm) or whatever...
IanMac

not dead sorry! just stupidly running 32miles for a bloody little certificate like a fool.
good weekend though anyway :)
nope, definately not bloddy! i'd definately have remembered him.
also anyone got a pic of rodland? i'm pretty sure its not the game i'm looking for, but i do regocnize the name
:)
Edit: whoops, sorry, no direct signatures! i almost forgot!

The game you are after is definitely, definitely Dithell's Wonderland, as Drake suggested, ages ago. By pure chance, I played it for two minutes today, and remembered this thread.
OK. Checklist.
1: Human character. Check. Not a chick, but a Mario-a-like bloke. In even worse shape, and with a bigger nose. Incredible, I know.
2: Must colour platforms. Check. Transparent until you do so. Check.
3: Level Editor. Check.
4: Trampoline floor. Check. I had to kill the little dude off prematurely, or the "boiiing" sound effect would have driven me mad.
5: i dont think it had much of a background.
Fairly sparse copper backdrop here. Check.
6: No box. Check. PD game.
Extra info: it features, for no reason at all, pieces of fruit flying around the place, for you to collect. Sound familiar?
Now download it, play it, and we can all relax. :) I will upload my HD version to the Zone if you like. :cool
PS: 32 miles?! Not in one go, I hope. Well done! :)

And if you need to see it again before you're sure. Check 5th post. You could've been mistaken last time.

Charlie Chimp?
Drake1009
09 July 2002, 10:55
Hmm I think I thought of a game now. Can't quite remember the name but I can dig it up if the thing I remember about it is right.
Does it have water in it? (as in you can be below and above water)
IanMac
12 July 2002, 19:55
:D
thanks! thats it :)
could you upload it if possible?
(32miles in one go yes, 8 1/2 hours, ouch)
andreas
13 July 2002, 00:22
why does poor Cody always have to do all the laborious work? :confused
:D
As Cody has done enough by finding this ultra-hard-to-identify game, I've upped BOTH Charlie Chimp parts in the zone for your pleasure.
Enjoy!
Is the chimp a girl, IanMac?:D

Hold on, folks. I'm not sure IanMac was referring to Charlie Chimp, but to Dithell's Wonderland, as ID'ed by Drake1009 and myself. This thread may need renaming for a second time.

you're most likely right.
In any case, Dithell's Wonderland (non-BTTR version) is in the zone now.
For the record:
Dithell's Wonderland (19xx)(D.Ithell)(PD)[AMOS]
is a version created by the BTTR guys.
Disk name is "Back2Roots" ... I assume it's created from a LHA archive, probably from Aminet.

thanks for the warning...

"Warning"?
I wouldn't want to speak of a warning, Bobic might happen to get
this the wrong way even :rolleyes
Well, the BTTR version is OK, but created from an LHA. And it also works. :)
This supposed to be as objective as possible, not darkminded.

Sorry. Still feeling the sour effects of cleaning up ALE disks for four hours...
andreas
14 July 2002, 16:43
I fully understand. :)
I hope these "non-contaminated" (ex-)ALE disks will get into TOSEC so I can kick out the ALE ones.
This self-assertion of webmasters having to cram their URL and other crap into old software is really a pain in the ... yes, there exactly. :rolleyes:disgusted
Twistin'Ghost
15 July 2002, 02:40
Well, I will be more than happy to submit them. Or I could post them to the Zone, as well, which should get them to the right people. I essentially have a system for restoring most of them to their bare-bones roots (even if ALE made the disk from scratch). They are 100% faster, as well. It's one of those projects I can do when I wake up and am waiting for that first cup of coffee to return my vision to normal (my eyes aren't ready for reading text when I first wake up...)
Plus I have done a few disks from Aminet lha>adf, but I usually just toss those in my Unrecognized dir.
