View Full Version : Slowdowns on lots of pre-A1200 demos

Hi

I'm using my A1200 with 030 & 8MB mainly to watch demos.
I recently installed KG's demo packs, to see how they work (I've tried them previously on my A600 with poor results - lots of crashes, slowdowns & stuff that dont work at all).

I think I've watched about 70-80 demos so far & noticed a lot of them, mostly old A500 ones, suffer from slowdowns (audio slows down & the screen flashes/bugs - usually in 3D or dot-based effects that take most of the screen).
There are also the infamous "Illegal Instruction" errors, but these are less common (they sometimes "go away" if I restart the demo after they occur).

Some also display various gfx errors & in a few demos there are effects that dont show at all (screen is filled with flashing "garbage").

Is there anything that can be done to fix these problems?
(And before anyone asks - I'm not using a pirate WHDLoad)

Thanx!

slowdowns on a500 are probably because added blitter fixes and the dev has not tested it on such machines

in general the installs needs to be fixed, but atm I don't see anybody doing that
