Rules
Rules are available here (http://eab.abime.net/showpost.php?p=492853&postcount=4). Super League rules are here (http://eab.abime.net/showthread.php?t=41652); usual rules still apply.
Select Medium from the options and play Arcade Mode - starting with Sports, Intermediate level.
This competition is based on what score you achieve so you will need to take a picture of the high score table after you've played.

Just to hammer it home, start from the Sports tracks people!
And rexsu v. mailman is an interesting tie, given that there were just 300 points between them in the Super League round...

I expected a quiet round and boom, I face Mailman :spin
Some players should be happy with this draw ;)
Good luck to all !

I wonder how drawing looked like :spin

I wonder how drawing looked like.
Well, this is taken from the rules over at Lemon and would be an explanation:
Group winners from Round One will be seeded against group runner-ups for the quarter-finals. Highest scoring winner playing lowest scoring runner-up and so on. (surely an incentive not to have the lowest score)
Just wonder why this part was missing in the EAB-rule-thread...

The Lemon thread is wrong. Check out the rules thread here.
Group winners from Round One will be seeded against group runner-ups for the quarter-finals. Group winners can only play runners-up from the other groups.

So it was all random. Then I have to say: "Phew!" ;)
But it's sad that either mailman or rexsu won't reach the semifinals...

I must say that choosing Sports as the first world will reduce huge scores. Your car is not fast enough to lap three or four cars. Still, it is possible to lap two of them.
My first attempt. I could have done better on some tracks.
307,600
Funny thing is that my very last score from ATR round (and lap times) were not saved! I have them on my cell phone but they are not saved. I must have reset the machine instead of quitting the game (which I normally don't do) or that's because of the power failures I had that time (In the middle of September I had some days off and some electricians were fixing something in my neighbourhood).

Must have missed that ages ago. Fixed now.

Just purely out of curiosity, I did the draw based on the rules previously found in the Lemon thread and it would have come out like this:
John v Graham
jPV v Shawn
mipe v Parpala
rexsu v mailman
So rexsu and mailman would have played each other anyway.

First score. Rubbish.
Don't panic. I made 3 games and lost... quickly :laughing
We must learn these new circuits ;)
I think the time will be the key to this round !

Hmm...in that movie the French (Christopher Lambert) lost... ;)
(on purpose though)
We must learn these new circuits ;)
Big advantage for mailman here as he knows every course of this game inside out.

I hadn't thought of that :laughing
Perhaps a premonition? :help

300K is a top score.
I lost in alien world and I made only 216,400 !
It will be a big challenge :nervous

Maybe, but 216k already on Monday is extraordinary. :great
It will get very close between you two.

Thank you :)
Sometimes I surprise myself :lol
I hope it will be a nice battle for other duels too :)
Attention all those who have already played !
Scores with this way will be lower then maybe you can not enter your nickname in the "hall of fame".
Remember to pause the game (P) for your final score ;)

Pause when since you don't see the score until the end of the race ;)

But the battle is not over !

Congratulations rexsu - I give up. I do not have enough time to play any more.
rexsu
02 January 2010, 22:33
Thank you :)
I wanted to meet another person because it's 2 times that I face you and for me you deserve a podium :sad
A duel with JPV might be nice, he is super talented at ATR too.
Or John4p, pushing to its limits :D
Here my new score 374,700
You can add more than 15000 points on this score because my controller broke in the space (left direction) and I finished 3rd while I was passing the last !
I twisted the wire in all directions and now it works again :guru
In fact the high of my joystick doesn't work but it's not disturbing with ATR ;)

I'm mega hot :spin

03 January 2010, 01:03
Round finished then. Great effort from both rexsu and mailman and I am only sorry that you both ended up being drawn together. That's just how these things go though.
Was a little disappointing to see that only six of the eight players submitted a score.
But still - semi-final draw to follow soon. This could be interesting.

This knockout 2010 is less intense than last year, it's a shame.
And sure, it's disappointing that everyone has not played this round :sad
mailman
03 January 2010, 08:46
I also feel disappointed with those who qualified and didn't play. Others who have been excluded could have enjoyed more.
Graham Humphrey
03 January 2010, 11:01
Exactly. There were certainly several others who didn't make it this far who would have been more than happy to have taken part.
