Ok i can't get my CD-rom to work on my A1200.
I have an Ide-Buffer with a 2gig 2 1/2 inch HD.
Thats All ok boots up NP:
I have an 8meg Ram Card.
CD-Rom runs on external Power Supply.
I have installed IdeFix and atapi software.. And i can see the cdrom when i click on FINDCD I can see it under ATAPI and under CD.DEVICE
But i can't see any cdroms i insert..?
I thought i broke one of the pins on the Ide Buffer but i mustn't have..

If you could please look at the pic at the arrow point IS THAT PIN MISSING OR SHORT...? if it is Pheeew :) cause so is mine,
if it isn't SHIT mines broke cause mine is only 1 mil long. :(

Anyway if all is ok with the Buffer anyone got any ideas..?

First off m8! you will be glad to know your buffer isnt broke! every one of these i have seen, mine included! are the same!

how is the cd drive setup on your system? do you have the hard drive as master on the first ide port and the cd as master on the second ide port? if you have them both as master and slave on the first ide port then you will need to edit the CD0 mount script.

All you have to do is double check your CD0 mount script that lurks in the Devs/Dosdrivers... you will need a text editor like ED to change the unit number:

Unit = 1 /* exec device unit */
Ide port1 = Hard drive master - Cdrom slave

Unit = 2 /* exec device unit */
Ide port1 = Hard drive master - Ide port2 = Cdrom master

Unit = 3 /* exec device unit */
Ide port1 = Hard drive master - Ide port2 = Cdrom slave

I hope this is whats wrong m8 as I have had to do this a few times setting up idefix97 :)

If ElectroBlaster's good advice still doesn't do the trick, here is a link to Eyetech's Support Page (http://www.eyetech.co.uk/SUPPORT/SGUIDE/BUFFE002.HTM) on buffered interfaces and related stuff. Example configs and more tips.
