Saving the game on Leisure Suit Larry games on WHDLOAD [Archive]

Hey all,

When trying to play the leisure suit larry games with WHDLOAD, they softkick into 1.3 just fine and run great, but pressing F5 to save, or choosing save game from the menu, causes a software task error and the amiga crashes. How do i save my progress on these games for whdload?

real Amiga or WinUAE? Either way, which Amiga or what config do you use?

real amiga 500, 1 meg chipram, 4 MB fast ram, on a real 4.5 scsi hard drive....booting into 3.1 and 3.1 wb...

Just tested it with a similar config (68000, OCS, KS 3.1, WB 3.1, 1 MB Chip & 4 MB Fast) in WinUAE and the save function worked fine. Maybe you should also report the bug here : http://www.whdload.de/cgi-bin/wbug.cgi?name=LeisureSuitLarry

ok, hmmm thanks for the info! will do...just tried it with police quest...same game engine, same soft kick to 1.3 etc, but saving on that worked, its just LSL...ugh.

Do you have save directory in the data directory?

I do have a save directory in the data directory. Heres some more info, it actually works on LSL1 which DOESNT have a data directory at all...but lsl2, 3, 4, 5 and do, and it fails with "Software error - TASK HELD" I just repro'd it on WINUAE as well.

So you have Guru Meditation error (with red box) or just a message box with option to suspend or reboot?

Sorry, i shouldve been more specific. The moment i try to save, i get the "task held" box with the option to suspend or reboot. If i "Retry" the message just refreshes. If i cancel, it reboots the GAME...

I am trying with the LSL installs from the KG WHD packs...Tonight, i suppose ill download the installer and use the real disks.

Do you have this error when running the game using WHDLoad or the game quits from WHDLoad back to Workbench and error appears?

Why am I so inquisitive in asking this? For me it is highly improbable to have this error when running the game "inside WHDLoad". You should rather have Access Fault.
