Hello everyone,
I wonder if anyone can help me with teh following problem. I am using a SONY DCR TRV900 which uses a Kingston Dataflash Pc Card Type II ATA Flash Stoarge 8MB PCMCIA card to store photoes on.
This card doesnt seem to work in the AMiga's PCMCIA slot as it seems , I think, to be too fast. It runs at 400 thingys whilst the alerternative settings on PrepCard only go upto 250 thingys.
can any one offer any help with accessing the Card in any way through the Amiga's PCMCIA slot. Do I need a special driver?
Many thanks in advance.
I think you need a special PCMCIA adaptor for your PC Card, but Im not sure, since I have no experience with such devices. Hope anybody can be of furtehr help!

Thanks Akira. I am definitely not investing in any extra hardware as I only have the card for a short time. I software solution would be ideal if anyone can help ?

Does the Card show up any info if you start CardPrep ?? If not, the PCMCIA Card isn´t readable on Amiga ...
// edit : You may want to check out this one : http://ftp.uni-paderborn.de/aminetbin/find?pcmcia !
Try the third one (cfd.lha) ...

It does actually. It can identify the card manufacturer "Kingston" and various otehr details.
At teh top of the screen it is identified as I/O Device at 400ns

Hi,
I tried the program you mentioned. I installed fat95 and did the various thigns necessery. Howevr when I try and addrs the cf0: through shell with a dir or cd it replies that the device has a "bad number"
So close yet so far....
Does anyone know what this means?
when I try and prepare the card thropugh Prepcard it says "error while writing changes" .
I am sure it is someting to do with the speed as it seems prepcard can only go upto 250ns whilst the card is 400ns.
Any ideas?

whilst i cant help regarding your connectivity, i can confirm that a 400ns card is actually slower than a 250ns one (it's the refresh speed), so speed is likely *not* the issue here.

Thanks
It just seems starneg that the MAiga can recognise it as a Kingston ATA card and confimr its dte ect in prepcard but not write to it or recognise it. I assume that an icon should pop up when the card is inserted or that I should be able to access it by dir cf0:
......or am I forgetting something really stupid!!??!

Maybe you have to mount it with MOUNT CF0: before trying to access it :confused

Hi
I tried mount cf0: and it replies that it cant open file "DEVS:MountList"
Am I missing something?

Hmmm, nope :( I´ve just looked into the archiv, there is no MountList entry required, but did you copy the following files to DEVS: ??
- CF0
- CF0.INFO
- COMPACTFLASH.DEVICE
After a reboot you should insert the card after WB showed up and double click on the file CF0: in DEVS: ! Then there should appear an icon on WB !
