Hi'ya
I have an Amiga 500 and I haven't currently got any Work Bench disc's and I would like to work out how much ram is in the Machine if possable?

If I open that little trap door under the machine their are two ram sticks in their?

Are they normaly their if the machine has been upgraded??

:confused

PS. As you can tell I'm a total newbie. ;)

Many Thanks

Interesting, the A500's I'm used to seeing have a small memory/clock board that sometimes has a wedge shapped metal shielding around it. They pretty much take the entire free space in the trap door slot. Also they use DIP type RAM that is soldered to the board.

Can you see if this board is connected to a couple of rows of pins on one side of this trap door space?

If you go to the following web site you can see the different A500 models produced and the trap door I'm referring to as you've discovered already ;)

EDIT: the normal config would be 512K/1MB internal RAM and the trap door RAM would be a 512K expansion. There were actually many different trap door ram expanders made so the guide may help you figure out which one you have installed.
