Perfect General, The (1991)(Ubi Soft)(Disk 1 of 2)
Perfect General, The (1991)(Ubi Soft)(Disk 1 of 2)[a][WB]

Are this TOSEC sets cracked?
I am not able to find any trace for a crack.
But its a little bit curious.
The game has manual protection.
At the protection screen you can type anything and you can pass.
Something known?

Even Top Banana was cracked/trained... Almost all games were cracked, no matter how crappy. And Perfect General was definitely cracked, I still have the Dytec version here.

Seems like the manual protection was cracked then. Maybe someone did that for his own purpose and the disk got spread around. A [cr] should be added :)

@Denis
Sure, why not :D

Thank you for answers.:great
@TCD: Have you checked both sets?
@dlfrsilver: Please upload your french datadisk.
@StingRay: Can yoou upload your "Dytec" version.

I have this (probably) rare nonTOSEC disks:
Perfect General, The (1991)(Ubi Soft)(De)(Disk 1 of 2)[cr Marc][FD installed]
Perfect General, The (1991)(Ubi Soft)(De)(Disk 2 of 2)[cr Marc][FD installed]
Perfect General, The v1.01 (1991-10-10)(Ubi Soft)(Disk 1 of 2)[cr SKR][FD installed]
Perfect General, The v1.02 (1991-11-10)(Ubi Soft)(Disk 1 of 2)[cr CSL][FD installed]

Anybody intrested in?
Someone knows, if "Marc" was a member of a group?

Can do once I dumped the disks. :)

@TCD: Have you checked both sets?

I even checked all three sets now ;)

Perfect General, The (1991)(Ubi Soft)(Disk 1 of 2) and Perfect General, The (1991)(Ubi Soft)(Disk 1 of 2)[a][WB]

Both have a 'Perfect General' executable with the size 297,284 bytes. You can enter junk at the manual copy protection screen and you are able to enter the game.

Perfect General, The (1991)(Ubi Soft)(Disk 1 of 2)[WB]

Has a 'Perfect General' executable with the size 160,460 bytes. Also possible to enter junk and proceed to the game.

I'm a bit confused now to be honest, because it seems all three versions are cracked, the protection never worked or the game will simply stop after some rounds. Hope anyone can test it (strategy = not my cup of tea ;)). Also interesting that the second exe is only about half the size.

If you can pass the manual protection it has been cracked.

Most probably just packed, nothing really interesting about that.

I have to differ with that - I think was a worthy game, and one that lent itself to link-up particuarly well.

So there! ;)

Perfect General, The (1991)(Ubi Soft)(Disk 1 of 2)
probably cracked, but no trace, you can pass the protection

Perfect General, The (1991)(Ubi Soft)(Disk 1 of 2)[a][WB]
probably cracked, but no trace, you can pass the protection

Perfect General, The (1991)(Ubi Soft)(Disk 1 of 2)[cr SKR]
probably cracked, its not cracked by "SKR", you can pass the protection

Perfect General, The (1991)(Ubi Soft)(Disk 1 of 2)[cr SKR][a]
Its cracked by "SKR".

Perfect General, The (1991)(Ubi Soft)(Disk 1 of 2)[WB]
Its cracked by "SKR".

The "SKR" cracked disks have a packed executable of 160460 bytes,
unpacked size is like the others 297284 bytes.
It seems the TOSEC disks are all the same version, two disks cracked by
"SKR" and three disks probably cracked by ????.

By the way i have also installed the IPF release (v1.02) on floppy to see, what would happen, if i type anything at the protection screen, but unfortunally the game crashs before this screen.
Maybe something went wrong during the installation process, i will try it again.

I've tested it at work and it's a different version (not the same title picture). If you enter something invalid at the manual protection screen you can't proceed. Like Sting said the disks are cracked. The executable has a different size (a bit more than 300,000 bytes).

Just tried it again and of course you are right, you cant proceed, if you type a wrong word.
So all disks in TOSEC are cracked(but who made the job).

Well, on the disk it says :

THE PERFECT GENERAL - BATAILLES DE LA 2EME GUERRE MONDIALE
=
THE PERFECT GENERAL - BATTLES OF THE 2ND WORLD WAR

Also the copyright year goes with the info on HOL :

Copyright (c) 1992 WHITE WOLF PRODUCTIONS

So I would say : Yes ;)

Ok, then HOL should add french language entry.
