View Full Version : EAB Multi Platform League - Round 7 - Game Vote (MAME)
Voting starts now (24.05.2009) and will end next Saturday (30.05.2009) :
- Vote for five games.
- Your first choice gets 5 points, second 4 pts, third 3 pts, fourth 2 pts, fifth 1 pt.
- Remember to choose games suitable for competition play. If you don't, then you will get the treat of a PM from me, asking you to change your vote. If you still don't change it your vote will be discounted. If you aren't sure feel free to ask.
- If you vote for games that don't have a scoring system (e.g. racing games), post which game mode to play and how to measure the score. If you don't do that your whole vote is invalid.
- Edited votes will be discounted (unless you are told to edit it, and even then you can only edit the game(s) that aren't suitable) - so think before you post. Also you cannot vote for games that have already been played.
(Courtesy of Graham ;))
The system you can choose games from for round 5 is : MAME (upto the year 1999)
Gimme all your votes :D

HOL to the rescue again!! :D
Damn - the first iteration of Street Fighter III was released in February 1997... :scream
Also found some nice shumps that were released after 1996...
Maybe we should increase it to 2000? ;)
Or 1999 (feels more retro appropriate even though the year 2000 was in the last century, too ;)).
I'd definitely want that! :great
Nice...
1. Street Fighter III - Third Strike
2. Street Fighter III - Second Impact
3. R-Type
4. Outrun
5. Haunted Castle (aka "Akumajou Dracula"...)
(TCD, the acronym is shmups, not shumps :P)
1- Dangun Feveron
2- Street Fighter Alpha 2
3- Battle Circuit
4- The Punisher
5- Kick Rider
(TCD, the acronym is shmups, not shumps :P)
Thanks ;) Should stay with shoot 'em ups, just to make sure I don't do it again :nervous
Btw : There are an insane number of very good shoot 'em ups out there for MAME. Will be tough to have a look at them all during the next week :p

The choice of years is so broad it will be hard to come to a good voting, having in mind it;s so few of us that vote.
Perhaps next one you can pick just ONE year.

Now THIS will be difficult... Must think very hard about what to chose. But I would like to give off a special plea this time: not so darn many flying shmups. I feel like that's all we've been playing recently, and I would like some variety.
All right, here's the list:
1. Street Fighter 3: Third Strike ( you bet! Can we please chose an English-speaking version tho?? I want to learn the story of the game! The emulated Dreamcast I've played it trough on, only has the Jap version... BAH!!)
2. Discs of Tron
3. Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles: The Arcade Game
4. PUNCHOUT!!
5. Rampage

You could always play in the Super League too y'know, if you'd like a bit more variety ;)

Nice try Graham :D ;)
@Predabot
Now how to tell you this... not to play a shoot 'em up on MAME... impossible :p MAME is *the* platform to play them on, so don't expect an old shooter freak (like me) to vote for anything else ;)

I am in the same army as TCD "Shoot or Die":D

The problem with the US version is you have to "install" it. This installation process is perfectly emulated in MAME - but it takes about an 1 hour!
There is a JPN version available that doesn't need this procedure.
Since there is no change in the scoring system between the US and JPN versions both should be allowed.
If you're interested in the dialogues and story, you'd have to go through this installation process once, if not, just use the JPN version and play right away...
Or does someone know if there now is a US version available that lets you play without installation?
No, it's 'one version or die!' from now on ;) No alternate versions = no useless discussions anymore :agree
So if anyone knows a US version that works without installing it, let me know. Otherwise it's 'Speak Japanese or just play!' :D
Oh well, there's still plenty of time 'til sunday for a Japanese-crash course.
Oh well, there's still plenty of time 'til sunday for a Japanese-crash course.
Tried that once... it's a tad harder as it seems at first ;)
At least its pronunciation is easy (unlike Chinese). Still I doubt I'll find the time to learn either.

Yeaah, I like your number 1. :DHehe, same here ;)
Heard some nice things about this game but never really tried it, this would be a great opportunity if it won ;)
2. Dangun Feveron
3. Street Fighter III - Third Strike
Arrgh - that's cruel! :banghead ;)
Oh well, playing fighting games against the CPU is wasted time anyway - and Dangun Feveron really looks awesome...
There will be more MAME rounds, so no worries ;)
Btw : Since noone else seems to have an opinion about the schedule system I posted in the chichat thread except john, I guess I'll approve it tomorrow then :D

Cheers ;)
I don't really have much time these days for games but will try to make some for Arcade / Neo-Geo rounds.
And the winner is...
R-Type 14 (6 votes)
Dangun Feveron 14 (3 votes)
Street Fighter III - Third Strike 13
Gigawing 10 (2 votes)
Splatterhouse 10 (2 votes)
Stay tuned for the new thread ;)
With Graham's tie-break system Dangun Feveron had won. :nervous
Yes, yes with that system it would have won :p We're the more 'democratic' type here you know :laughing ;)
Democracy is the worst form of government except all the others that have been tried.;)

Hmm, how many votes did SF3 get? I notice that you showed the points, but omitted the votes. Well I wanna' know. :|
Doesn't matter for the vote, because only if there is a point tie the votes decide which one we play. If you really wanna know you can look it up for yourself in this thread ;)
