harddrive light won't come on?????

Can anyone help me i have fitted a 3.5 inch pc harddrive in my A1200 and have prepped partitioned and formatted and installed workbench.Everything works fine but the only snag is the harddrive light on the A1200 won't come on when booting or when there is harddrive activity????I have swapped the cables round on the drive and the light comes on but does not boot so when swapping back the drive boots but no light????I know the light works and there is no loose wires and the drive will only work with the cable one way so why is the light not working????

Is your A1200 in a tower, or a desktop case?

This is interesting, normally when you connect an LED backwards it just doesn't light and the other way allows the LED function to work properly.

On the A1200, does this LED connect to the mainboard or to the drive itself? Perhaps this is the cause, since I don't own a 1200 I couldn't say which way to connect it. Somebody out there I'm sure can help out on this one :D

Please ignore my question about the harddrive light not working i have now resolved this due to some little black jumpers on the harddrive.The harddrive is a 3.5inch and it's a seagate.There is two little black jumpers on the drive and they needed moving so now the light comes on now.
