Does anyone else have problems running Battle Chess...?

I cant see to get any version to work properly - I have tried the WHDload version and various cr*cked floppy versions on my Amiga A1200 and my A600... the chess pieces just seem to move like they are walking in treacle...it becomes impossible to play, everything slows down to a crawl - anyone else seen this?

I am missing something simple?

Don't think it's your game. I noticed the same behavior playing on WinUAE from IPF. *BUT* when I switched to Kickstart 1.2, it got rid of the hiccups while walking. My Amiga only has 1.3 and 2 so I didn't test on real machine.

Extra: after a little more WinUAE testing, game runs about the same for A500,A500+,A600 did not test 1200. I have this game for PC too and it doesn't exactly burn rubber there either. Maybe my initial hack job on the chess move protection had something to do with games initial trouble.

Ok, I've put this game on my 030 real Amiga and the performance difference between it and WinUAE is negligible. I would say it is comparable to MS-DOS version. Going to Zone my HD folder (BChess.lha) anyway. If it doesn't help then no harm done.

It does help!

It works and it's great to have this little game back - thanks!
What is different with this version you zoned to others I have tried?

Who knows? Important thing is that all that chess playing wasn't for nothing.
