*sigh* i wanted parodius and then i didnt. Now i dont know since my number 1 vote would have been Keith Courage. But it doesnt have score and i really don't know if i want to play the gold game if it were to be selected. Bye bye keith courage.
1. Bonk's Revenge
2. Mr Heli.
3. Raiden
4. Parodius Da
5. Super Star Soldier
Honorable Mentions:
Keith Courage
Titan
Magical Chase
Torn between 5. Will decide in the next 24 hours.
Hmm... well okay. Maybe you take the time to decide first (like I do ;)) and then post your choice :D It's not like you don't have the full week to vote and you already have the two times bonus, so you don't get extra points for a fast vote ;)

I know but if i dont get it up ill never make a decision. I made it though. Both games are very similar so i can be torn when neither of them would have won anyhow (:

I... I don't know about any games for these platforms.
I know hardly nothing about them...0_o
All I know is there is Devil Crash ( or Devil's Crush if you're not from Japan...) for TB16. That's good.
Err... Anybody know if the TB16 has got something like HoL or Lemon? That would be nice, help me pick out something.

What kind of games are you into Predabot? TG16 was known to have a lot of arcade ports to it. That may help some. I dont know of any resources like HOL for the TG16 but i could probably give you some names of games when i know what you like. This was one of my favorite consoles as a tike.
i have attached a list of games from my computer if it helps any.

All right! I'm wading trough, and I think I've found some titles lads. Thanks for the intel. :)
1. Devil Crash
2. Operation Wolf
3. Dracula X ( gotta' love Castlevania)
4. STRIDER!! ( yeah, the arcade is the awesomest, but maybe there's something to gain from the PC engine as well)
5. I've got nothin'... Ah what the hell... R-type!

3. Dracula X ( gotta' love Castlevania)
If the PC Engine CD is included I would've chosen Rondo of Blood, too. But that's another console, right (@TCD)?
Like the Sega Genesis and the Sega CD are different consoles...
Yup, please no CD games :) Can be a pain in the a** to get them and also our friends from Oz would thank us for the 400 MB downloads :D So we would only play cartridge based games (though some NeoGeo roms are rather big too...).
john4p
31 March 2009, 13:13
There are zips of these PC Engine CD-games and Sega CD-games with the audio tracks converted to mp3s. That's supported by every emulator and reduces the size of these games to less than 100MB.
For example Rondo of Blood is only ~60MB.
Still it's a different system (and 60MB are still quite large)...
Bah, MP3 rips... ;)
Anyway question answered, CDs out :D

Cool, here's my opportunity to *FINALLY* try this console as I always failed at some point into getting it working in the past...
You guys choose a nice game for a noobie to try and fell into, please, I'll post my votes later when I'll check yours ;)

I can really recommend this PC Engine-exclusive little gem called "Turrican". ;)

Stop that john ;) If you make suggestions, than post at least 10 different games :p

To be perfectly serious now...
My point of view on this is as follows: If a game is available for various platforms - choose the Amiga version if it doesn't have some kind of a huge FLAW that makes it very bad.
To really experience a different platform - always choose a game you had not played before.
So I'll not be with you on this, sorry ;)
Shoonay just vote okay ;) Please let's not get this into a 'gamer's philosophy' discussion.

Still "Dracula X" (== "Castlevania: Rondo of Blood") is a PC Engine CD - game and must be changed.

You're right john (missed that completely ;)). So Predabot would you please change your vote then :)
@Shoonay : No no... Have a lookie here : http://www.planetemu.net/index.php?section=roms&dat=112

6. Turrican (damn too late) :D
Damn - so close... ;)
edit: "Strider" was also a PC Engine CD-game. That means Turrican is now your 5th choice, right? ;)
NEC Avenue released PC Engine version of Strider Hiryu in 1994, which released in CD-ROM² format and required the Arcade Card. It featured an additional stage not in the arcade version. NEC originally planned to release a SuperGrafx port in 1990, but this version was canceled.[1]

Ah f**k! :| Two of the best games in the entire thread just got the shaft! Arrgh.
Ok, ok. Here's a new list, with some suitable replacements. ( I think...)
1. Devil's Crush
2. Operation Wolf
3. Alien Crush
4. Ninja Gaiden ( I know I'm going to regret this... this friggin' game has a rep for being so hard it makes friggin' Contra look like a kindergarten!)
5. R-type 2
Btw everybody...! I've found the promised land of PC Engine! :)
http://pcenginefx.com/main/
This place seems to be the equivalent to English Amiga Board bud sadly not HoL... Not much in ways of info on good games I'm afraid. More a general resource.

So Retro-nerd, what are your 5 choices going to be (:
Retro-Nerd
31 March 2009, 19:53
I don't play in the EAB compo. But i would sugguest Gunhed Taikai or the best HuCard 2D shooter Soldier Blade. Both have a nice challenge/score hunting mode, either 2 or 5 minutes.
R-Type 2
There is no R-Type 2 for the PC-Engine. The Japanese R-Type 1 version was splitted on two cards. Anyway, the US version of R-Type 1 is on one card. ;)
TodaysForgotten
31 March 2009, 20:00
Soldier Blade is sorta like Forgotten Worlds right? Where you can make your guy shoot forward or backwards. I remember that game back in the day. Pretty good one.
I was going to choose blazing lazers but i figured it wouldn't be picked anyhow.
Retro-Nerd
31 March 2009, 20:03
Soldier Blade is more like Gunhed, which was inspired by Aleste. No wonder, Compile programmed Gunhed/Blazing Lazers for the PC-Engine.

1. Splatterhouse (Japanese version)
2. Terra Cresta II

Yay! Retroplay is in da house :D Welcome and I hope you have a good time :great

Btw what emulator should be used.. Mednafen, Ootake (my two faves) ?
Or does that not matter ?
Or does that not matter ?
I doesn't matter :) You could also use a real PC Engine if you like ;) Just the version of the game matters. So if anyone would like to play on their real hardware, please tell me and we use the same version for emulation :)

You could've voted Bonk's "Adventure" instead of "Revenge", but no - you had to be Quaid! ;)
1. Parodius Da!
2. Raiden
3. Terra Cresta II
4. Bonk's Adventure
5. Bonk's Revenge
I just voted 'Adventure' over 'Revenge' because... it sounds better :D

It's also the first part in the series. Would be nice if we play Bonk's Adventure, Revenge and Bonk 3: Bonk's Big Adventure in this league (some time during the next 20 years...).
(some time during the next 20 years...).
Hmm, we have quite a lot of systems to choose from... ;) Also hope for a Bonk round john :)

05 April 2009, 17:17
Hmm. What is Bonk anyway? I mean, I see there's a few games for the Ami as well, but I've never heard of it before EAB.
I see a lot of balloons on the screenshots... I thought it was sort of like Bubble bobble, or balloon Hunt, you gotta' smack balloons, with a time-limit? Or is it some kind of adventure-game?
Retro-Nerd
05 April 2009, 17:19
Bonk was the PC-Engine mascot, like Sonic for the Mega Drive. It'a a really good and funny scrolling platformer game series. The first Bonk was ported as B.C. Kid for the Amiga. Try it.
http://bonkzonk.com/index.shtml
http://hol.abime.net/81
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Bonk_(video_game_series) ;)
It's a platformer and a really good one too :D The Amiga version was called BC Kid (http://hol.abime.net/81), but I really don't see where you found all the balloons...
Predabot
05 April 2009, 19:32
Oh! Sorry mates, I confused it with Pang and Super Pang. Which one's better btw? One of the Bonk-games, or B.C Kid?
I really like Super Bonk on the SNES, but the game belongs to the PCE :) BC Kid isn't bad either... hmm, can't judge on this one :D
Retro-Nerd
05 April 2009, 19:37
Bonk 1 is slighty better on the Amiga with improved graphics, sound and controls, thanks to Factor 5. Bonk 2 and 3 (PCE) are even better, sadly no Amiga ports.

ahaha. Sorry:( It's just i played the snot out of bonk as a kid on the tg16. I hardly remember revenge. I guess systematically it would make sense to play the first one. Well, i'll join the alliance next time tg16 is voted in (:
