Space shooter (horizontal): T-Zero. Project-X on steroids.
@andreas: Afterburner? Mmm...dunno...are pseudo-3D games included as well as 2D scrolling shoot-em-ups?
(Afterburner does have a plane in, tho!) :)
Having said that...if 3D shooters are permissable, then Guardian is the daddy.

for some reason, I read this post as "vertical arcadish shmups"
um......SEUCK anyone? :D
andreas
23 April 2002, 07:56
@blackcornflake: the original poster did *not* say that he only wants 2D shooters, it's something some of you guys interpreted into it much later :)
Got another one: Typhoon.

Scramble Spirits is a boring dead-easy conversion of a Sega shmup by Grandslam in 1990. Ideal remedy if you can't get no sleep.
Another vertical shmup is Funsoft's Apache Flight which is a blatant clone of Swiv. This budgetgame was released in 1992.

There wasn't a plane in Space Harrier but this game always reminds me of After Burner, maybe because they used to stand side to side with each other in the local arcade.

Wingnuts (AGA).
Nice one, can't for the life of me figure out the controls, but nice game. Well, I *think* the things you're controlling are aircrafts, or aren't they? :cheese
