A1200 on eBay UK

So anybody from the UK know this person or perhaps thinks a stock a1200 is worth this price? Remember I'm a yank ;)

Depends how high the Auction goes because of the cost of shipping. It doesn't have any extras with it and only an unbranded hard drive, although 750MB should be fine for all your needs.

On initial impressions I'd worry about the lack of fast RAM, as some hard drive games will struggle on 2MB chip. An A1200 with fast RAM is twice as fast as one without and fast RAM expansions/accelerators tend to go for high prices (which is why he's probably removed one from this machine), so it's best to buy one with the A1200.

Overall, considering you'll have to pay a hefty shipping charge, I'd pay no more than £20 for that basic setup, £30 if you're desperate. The buy it now is ridiculous at £95. :eek

Ideally however, I'd be looking for a machine with at least fast ram expansion included, even at the expense of a hard drive, as the former is hard to get hold of while the latter can be added with little expense. Also I'd want a few joysticks/extras.

Thanks Bloodwych, this is why I asked, but of course here in the states, this price doesn't seem to be out of the ordinary. I'm thinking there are just so many out there in Europe that you have a much better feel for what the pricing should be :)

Nice, so here's the problem then, most of these people will only ship to UK users. Seems the ones that will ship to the states want more and seem/can demand more for the machine :( This whole thing is starting to piss me off because I want to get a 1200 but only pay so much for a stock machine, but I'm forced to pay more because of my geographic location :mad

So is anyone willing to help out an old has been yank wanting to get a 1200???

EDIT: found this one on eBay UK, really nice setup with an 060 accelerator, so is this typical of UK pricing vs. US? I know I have to do a conversion of GBP to US Dollars but still this seems to be a good price considering what there is. Okay you Brit's, please sound off. Bloodwych has been very helpful here :D

Hmmmm, I think that's just for the 060 card! No A1200 with that lot :(

As to the question if it's a good offer, I'm not sure when it comes to these kind of expansions. Never seen one for sale before as they're quite rare.

I was just checking out international shipping costs and it varies from £30-£80 depending on the weight and class of service. :eek

Looks like it'll cost you the same for shipping as it does for an A1200, so consider that when an offer in the US comes up - it may be worth paying the inflated prices to grab one on your shores.

I think you're right, it's worded badly then, it should state Amiga 1200 Accellerator + , etc...

Oh well, I see your point on the Int'l shipping rates, they do seem a bit excessive to me. Hmm, this is using a shipper like UPS or FedEx then? Seems like I can get better rates shipping from the states to overseas then you folks can :(

They will deliver for an added fee otherwise it seems that they will send the recpient a notice to pickup the package/parcel from the nearest office. At least this is what UPS/FedEx seems to offer. As for the USPS, I think they deliver to the recipent directly, via the local postal authourity :)

Actually I can find many A1200's here in the states, the price seems to be outrageous, even when I conver from GBP to US. Seems the shipping charges will drive up the price as well. Man this is the pits :(

Oh yeah, I seem to keep coming back to Software Hut just because of this shit on eBay :( it would be nice if there were less greedy ass people in the world. Amazing what a few of your favorite currency can do :sad
