Hello.
i saw this auction today.
http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/Amiga-1200-Apollo-1260-Accelerator-32mb-FAULTY_W0QQitemZ280304072717QQcmdZViewItemQQptZUK_VintageComputing_RL?hash=item280304072717&_trksid=p3286.c0.m14&_trkparms=72%3A1297|66%3A2|65%3A12|39%3A1|240%3A1318
And i thought that it might be worth a shot, but what are the chanses of getting this board in working order?
I know there are a few solder-jocks here and if you guys have any input i am all ears.

well nothing like some healthy competition ^^
Zetr0, is there any chance of getting the card from you if you get it to work?
There are olot of IF's here but i would like to know if thats a possibillity.
Usually seller don't take bids from one person to send to another.

Zetro.. i have the same affliction as you do :crazy, I am up to my eyeballs in kit!
But you hang on to em for a bit mate, but i can assure you i'd be interested in the near future. (Desperate for an accellerator :crazy)
Btw, i'm as bad with cars and engines as i am with old hardware. :crazy
(ooh, found out the a500+ too... Just the mobo alone all chips except rom, and plenty of corrosion! It's a fixer ;) )

No, but i live in a static caravan, that has developed leaks this winter. The floor is going soft from the damp! Plus when showing some friends my Retro computer collection i discovered one of the boxes was wet! there was a leak in the cupboard :nervous
If anyone has a keep static 10-12 foot wide and 30-36 foot long??? I can collect i have a low loader, has to be in kent though don't want to go to far for one.
edit: it has to have plenty of cupboard space for the retro gear!

a bare board you say?
well if I do get the 060, then I will have a spare Apollo 040 board with the CPU and Prom removed (no Osc.)
its yours for a tenner and that includes postage.

I'll be in touch bud, a new toy! Might buy a spare cpu too... depending on what i rip out these macs..
Nice 'un :) :spin
ah but the knacker thing... in light of the growing threat of wide spread infertility, my super sharp shooter one hit wonderball is potentially worth much indeed.. tenners are best for these transactions, and they won't need keeping in a bag of frozen peas to keep their value.

Alas no I didn't,
I bought this card a while back on ebay sold as dead, and it most certainly is.
theres no power to the fan or chip, I suspect a ground somewhere, unfortuately I dont have a scope OR logic analyzer in my workshop and yomping all thats needed down to UNI would not be a good idea on the back of my bike first thing (6:15am) in the morning LOL
I am lead to believe this board was damage prior to an upgrade by one of my hardware hero's over on Amiga.org :)
Alas the problem was systemic as the system never regained life so i picked it up off fleabay with a view to seeing what I can do with it..
Now... IF i win the current auction then I am happy to part with this board, however Biscuit / Dimsy and you are all gonna have to argue over who gets it LOL
if not then I will strip this card down and test point to see if theres been a short under thein the layers, I believe the Apollos are a 6 layer design so i may yet be able to suss out where the short might be.
He did offer his left knacker, I'd take it, you never know when one of those could come in handy. :evilgrin
this really is touch and go on the biscuit knacker market my friend, however it would probably beat the transfer rate of pounds to euros.... hmmmm ;) :D

@DC33
congrats on picking up the card m8! dont worry about out bidding me.... i dont know you live ....yet ;) :)
from the pics (as i am no well) are a little blurry, but i believe there were a couple of poor welds and a stab from an iron...
reflux (with paste) the lot m8, and re-heat all those welds for the sake of it.
let us know how you get on but more importantly take LOTS of hardware pr0n please :)

@Zetr0, I have tried that already and I am a little sceptical to keep on trying for the sake of it particularly not knowing if what I have found is indeed a fault or not. Some of the tracks didn't have continuity where it appears they should have, but that is only a guess really at the end of the day as it is difficult to tell as the board isn't all that "flash"...
Anyways, will wait and see if anyone can help with a schematic or pics of their board.

Ok folks, the board is "working"...however !!!!!.....
Ok,
Managed to find the culprit "track" which in fact was NOT open, rather both shorted to "who knows what" and also open from the original path...
So now I have a working board, however......
When booting (from CF card and 1260 board fitted) the Ami GURU's over an over, BUT if I boot from floppy 3.1 WB disk there is no probs. When booting from 3,1 Install disk, the Ami GURU's again.????
I have re-installed WB 3.1 to see if it makes a difference, but the Ami hangs again into GURU mode.
I have downloaded the 060 drivers but have not been able to use the installer because it comes up with "no HD found".... although the CF card behaves like one..!!! WTF???
I manually copied the install files onto the different dirs without any luck as the Ami keeps on GURU'ing, so I have given up for the moment....
Funny thing is that the Ami boots up without any probs from floppy (WB 3.1) and the board is there sound as, but no joy from CF card.
Any ideas?
Cheers fellas.

could be a memory fault,
try booting from CF WITHOUT memory installed. if it still guru's then its likely to be something more serious.
now, take a pic of the card jumpers m8 as this could be wrong, also you may need to swap out simms as well! so lots to do :)
remember, all hardware pr0n greatly appreciated!
