Hi there, my apologies if this is a repeat question - i did try searching and read back through 7 pages of threads to no avail!

I have a standard Amiga 1200, kickstart & workbench 3.0, 85mb Seagate 3400rpm hard drive. I installed WHDLoad and got some games across using CrossDOS, but I find that any games over 1 disk seem to give me some trouble.
Games like Stunt car racer, Alfred Chicken (<880kb) work just fine but games bigger dont. Cannon Fodder for example, completely freezes about every 4 seconds while accessing the HDD. Lemmings never loads, I gave it 15 minutes and it eventually got to a black flashing 'Psygnosis' screen before I got bored. Project X takes about 5 or 6 minutes to load, again with this black flashing screen before and the same happened with Zool black flashing screen. I tried putting NoCache in the tooltypes, and Preload is always listed in there.
Is this my hard drive being too slow? A known WHDLoad problem? Someone help :bowdown

Let me guess, your A1200 has only 2MB RAM? If so, that's where your problem comes from as WHDLoad can't buffer more than 1 disk image in RAM with only 2MB.

how much memory do you have ?
did you just have the 2 mega chip ram ?
If yes, buy a card to add fast ram .
Because whdload preload disk or files in ram but if you don't have enough ram, or it doesn't launch or the swap with the os is really slow.

Ah, that would make sense. Any ideas where I could get some fast ram relatively cheap in the UK? I forgot just how much the disk swapping gets on my nerves! :D

Thanks for the help guys 'n' gals
