I'm running out of systems to paint/dye.
This one is going to require some stickers, or I'll have to study the Amiga keyboard layout a bit.

Just a standard Amiga checkmark. For some reason it really stands out in that shot (blurred a bit maybe?)
Nice colour combination.

Yup, sprayed with vinyl dye, stickers from 4keyboard.com are on the way.
Now I've gotta paint the external RAM expansion and hard drive.
I think this will be one of the quicker/more capable non-accelerated 500s around, it's got a 2MB Agnus (rev 8a board) and a 68010 chip. So far, it's got 9.5mb of RAM (could make it an even 10MB if I can get my hands on an A501+ for the trapdoor.)

@tone007
Looking very nice!!!!!
I would love to see bigger pics :D
btw, just a thought about the keyboard glyphs.... have you thought about rub-on decales ? you can print your own... rub them on and THEN put a protective matt laqure on the tope to protect them...
it would be time consuming BUT i think the result would be worth it...
have a look here at crafty computer paper (http://www.craftycomputerpaper.co.uk/ProductDetail.asp?ProductID=166&CatID=17)
good luck with the project, and please keep giving us MORE pics :D

Gave a very brief thought to decals, I think I'd have better luck lining up stickers. Last thing I want is a bunch of rows of crooked letters.
I'll grab another shot or two when the letters are on, and maybe with the sidecar addons (even though I made them black to match, I can't see them helping the look of the machine any, unless you're a fan of the bulky sidecar look.)

Why not just buy a CDTV keyboard and re-use the keys?

@ alexh
The problem is finding one for sale, they are like rocking horse poo....and when they are around they get snapped up PDQ....

I did the CDTV keyboard thing already for my 1200 (pics in another thread I posted,) for this 500 I wanted a grey keyboard, and an excuse to try those transparent stickers.

Update on this one, here it is setup in the bedroom (an action graciously sanctioned by my wife) alongside my bright C64 (with its uIEC/SD storage device cleverly hidden in an old Commodore calculator.) Take note of the matching SupraDrive XP and SupraRam RX, as well as the maxed out RAM listed on the workbench screen:

The keys actually worked out a little different than I'd intended, the existing protective lacquer over the letters resisted the vinyl dye, which was easily removed in a "reverse-decal" type process. Not the cleanest job, but usable and better than the transparent stickers were turning out.
And now it's time to play with WHDLoad on it.

Damn that is a big sucker.
Painted black and with the black A590 it's like the monolith from 2001 Space Odyssey.

Soon I get to try my luck with CFIDE68K, too.

Don't even think on IDE68k, it don't work with accelerators (that I know).
If you want to go CF, grab an ACARD unit and use in you SCSI controller.

Somebody here says it works with the VXL: http://www.students.tut.fi/~leinone3/ide/ide68k.html
Maybe it's crap, but I'll find out as I've already ordered one. I'm sure I can find something to do with it if it won't work with the accelerator.

they work with some, not with others... I must get one to see if it works with the CSA MMR, but I can't see why it wouldn't :)

My luck is holding out, CFIDE68K works great with the VXL*30 accelerator.
Now to see about shoehorning it closed.
