Am I right in thinking you can't quit on 68000 machines...?

A few of the updated slaves have 68000 quitkey fixes, but don't ask me which ones.

You are right and it does tell you in the WHDLoad docs that some slaves require the VBR feature for quit (only present on 68010+ CPU's)

Maybe in the past, check i.e. F/A 18 Interceptor readme. There are other fixed installs too.

version 1.4 (22.12.2007) done by JOTD
- reassembled with latest kickemu (now quitkey works on 68000 too)
- source code cleanup

yes, the problem is present in non-updated slaves which rely on WHDLoad built-in quit feature which only works on VBR-equipped machines (68010+) and if NOVBRMOVE is not set.

Tell us which slaves are problematic and we'll take care of them.

Giana Sisters: I don't have the latest source, but it should be easy. Please submit a bugreport to Psygore he'll fix it

Arkanoid: Wepl did that slave. I don't want to "steal" it. So please submit a bugreport, and he'll add this option.

I can update slaves only of retired coders, and if I have the source (Mr Larmer, Harry ...)

@UAE, you mean you have made "Some" games even work on 68000? I'm having all kinds of troubles on my A600. Like, maybe 10% of the games work... Purchased whdload, KGwhdload packs, kick 3.1 here.

Tell me your secret! :)

I've got a 2Mbyte A600 KS3.1 and it works well here for most slaves. I could have been lucky with the games I tried perhaps? Only Turrican III was problematic.

If you change a few of the parameters of WHDload you can get better compatibility from games that cannot preload.

WRITEDELAY and READDELAY (http://whdload.de/docs/en/opt.html#ReadDelay) are the tooltypes. Cannot remember if increasing or decreasing helped.

I also have a low memory overhead startup sequence which recovers buffers from HD and FD and also using the ADD36k program to do it's stuff etc.

If you have fast RAM compatibility goes up more.

Thx alex, I have 2MB chip + 4M fast+ 0.5M slow. Do you remember if you had to do anything special except the mentioned tooltype things? I'm deepest value of green on things like tooltypes, so... checking out that link now.

I always hijack threads :P not my intention, just saw 68000 and wished I had the problem of just exiting games. ;)

If you have like a settings file alexh, I'd like to try it! Me, I've just change 1 setting, the exit key shortcut.

Gimme a game title you are struggling with and I'll try it here.

Often switching / adding the tooltype from PAL to NTSC (or vice versa) can help stubbon games.

It's always worth taking a look at what tooltypes are set in the ICON of WHDload game that doesn't work, just in case it has strange ones set by whoever you got it from.

BTW: 4M Fast and 0.5M slow?? How did you manage that??

Giana Sisters: I don't have the latest source, but it should be easy. Please submit a bugreport to Psygore he'll fix itYou can exit the game with 'novbrmove' option. It should work on A2000 then.

It's a mode of that russian fastram board. I can have 8MB fast but then I lose pcmcia or something like that. The slowmem is just as fast as fastmem ofc, it's just mapped to where some games etc expect it to be.
