Picasso96

When i try to install picasso i get a message to
"insert volume work" but i cant find any file to insert, wich one do they want????

Work: is typically the name of your hard drive (DH0) If yours is not, you should open a CLI/shell at this time and issue this command:

assign Work: DH0:

and that should allow you to continue.

On my A600 System2.0: is DH0: and Work: is DH1:

Ok, i did the assign Work: DH0: thing and the installation completed. But then you have to reboot wich gives me the following message:

"Picasso96: Could not create graphics board context for 'uaegfx',
please check your Picasso96 installation!"

And again a window with "please insert volume Work in any drive"
shows up, but this time you can't open the shell until you press cancel.

What should i do???

Well there are people here who understand how to get Picasso96 happening (I'm not one of them, so my WB is mere AGA...)

As for the continuing demand of the software to want the volume WORK:, you should open a text editor (preferably CygnusEd) and edit the file user-startup which is in sys:s ( or in s: )
and in that file add the line:

assign Work: sys:

then save it and reboot. Or you could just go to Workbench and rename your HD to WORK, but there may already be hard references to whatever your HD is called, so the assign path is a safer bet. Maybe the software is looking for the drivers on the volume WORK: and that's why it won't run?

I renamed my workbench to "Work" and now i don't get the "insert volume work" message anymore.

what i have understand you shuld now install the following drivers:

Adpro
photogenics
Shapeshifter
Xipaint

I go to the drivers folder and click on Install_english button, this time i get the following message:

"Unable to open your tool 'Installer' "

Well, see that's what I was talking about in my last message. When you changed the name of the Workbench, the icon is probably looking for the name of the disk as it was originally. Highlight the icon for the program, right click and go to the Icons menu from Workbench, and select Information. You should see the path it is looking for Installer in. If there is a reference to the old volume name, change it to sys:, save, and try again.

You been missing the file INSTALLER in C: cause you renamed your Workbench (like Twistin said ;) ) and btw the INSTALLER program schould allways be in the C Directory .... just do the Picasso96 Installation again (and BEFORE that, change back the name of your Workbench) ..... While installing, you´ll be asked for a place to install at and for default there is "Work:" ..... just change that to "Workbench:" and you´ll never again being asked for Work: :D

I tried and installed a workbench in a new folder, this time both the virtuall hardrive and the workbench directory were named "Work" so then it shouldn't be a problem, but it still does the same thing when i open any of the drivers files.

Another thing i don't understand is that the Picasso installer finds my install tool even if i change the name of the workbench, and i have looked at booth that file and the drivers files, they all have the same path to the installer tool.


When i check the information booth the drivers files and picasso installer say

Default tool: Installer

but it's only the picasso installer i can open.

The other installers (e.g. Shapeshifter) only are available for using the Mac Emu Shapeshifter and are not necessary for the Picasso96 install itself ! After installing Picasso96 you must open the Picasso96Prefs program in your PREFS Directory to set Picasso96 up to work :) no other installs are required !

Be sure to have some RTG Memory assigned in the WinUAE options ;) otherwise Picasso96 will not find any gfx card :D
